I have this game from 1999 called NIRA Intense Import Drag Racing that don´t work so good with Win XP.

Trying to run it as usuall gives me a black cmd prompt saying
"DOS/16M error (17) system software does not follow VCPI or DPMI spec"

So I found and tried DOSBox. It works, though it´s really laggy, even though i´ve tried different CPU cycles.

So then i got VDMSound. Then the graphics are all totally fucked up. And its only displayed at the upper half of the screen. But it seems to run fast & smooth.

So can anyone help me? Please? I love this game!

Comp specs:
Intel P4 2.6 Ghz
TwinMOS 512 MB DDR PC3200
ATi Radeon 9600XT

did you try the compatibility-mode in XP?
You can XP run an .exe as simulated Win98 or DOS for instance.

look in C:\Windows\System32. There you have autoexec.nt and config.nt. These are used to load drivers in DOS mode. Try putting "REM" in front of every line in these files to disable these drivers. This way you'll have more free memory to play the game. See if that has any effect.

Also try to make a shortcut of the .exe you wanna start and try to change the memory settings in the properties page of the shortcut.

You could get that "All Windows" release, get DVD2 and install an older OS Smile

I haven´t tried the REM part. But i have tried the memory part (setting all values to highest).

Yeah, I was thinking it would be easier with VMWare?

The REM thing might work. The thing is when you set memory at maximum there still might not be enough memory.
With the REM you disable the DOS drivers and free some extra memory for the program to run...
