Looks like after the Stronghold 3 fiasco they realized that the only way to partially redeem themselves was to re-release the only good Stronghold. Razz

They should just make another game in 2D. Who cares if it doesn't have "modern graphics". All the fans they have still play the first two games anyway.

I don't disagree Smile. The game was an improvement over the first one (surely more polished) but I liked the original setting a bit more. Still, they're both fantastic.

Stronghold, the original one. Good story-based gameplay. Crusader was lacking IMHO.

Singlepayer story driven campaign [story driven Age of Empires campaign ]
Economic mode [just like Settlers 1 but with mission based objectives]
History battles [fight in real existing/existed castles in real history fights]
Sand Box [do what ever you like mode]

Economic preview from part 1

This is a lot harder then i remember. Mission where you have to get stone/bread/maces on economic.

Within 20 seconds 4 macemen come in, best you can do really quickly is a handful of archers and macemen, but they'll end up losing a lot of health.

They just beat on the castle wall, but they have to pass through one of 2 fertile important areas.
They come regularly and in larger groups, then wolves on top of that, and then just constant fires.
I had fires so frequently that even with 3-4 wells in the immediate area, i was losing buildings. Fires weren't even out and they were popping up in other areas. At one point just 90% of my town spontaneously erupted at once. This is on easy

yeah its how close things are to each other. I finished stronghold on all the difficulties
I prefer crusaders more though. Stronghold is a mission oriented progression. While crusaders is pure skirmish map type. The downside is if you master one style of playing then almost everything else becomes irrelevant. And they havent given up on new strongholds either they are developing Crusaders 2 right now. But yeah a really fun series untill 2 and beyond.
