ABOUT ENCASED
Encased is a modern single player sci-fi post-apocalyptic isometric role-playing game. It’s all about exploration, adventures, and survival inside a locked up territory.

It is heavily inspired by famous isometric RPGs of the late 90s and early 2000s but aims not only to repeat those essential aspects that made them golden classic but also to improve those and evolve even further.

The player is a participant in a project researching the technology and artifacts of a long-gone civilization. Wonderful discoveries, mysterious artifacts, and dangerous anomalies are constant companions of this activity.

The story campaign will have a duration of twenty-five to thirty hours with a significant replay potential. Play any character you want and watch the world change in response to your actions.

The game will feature a turn-based combat. All mechanics are designed to give players a large number of tactical choices, freedom of action and an ability to approach each combat situation in any unique and creative way.

The time has come. The Early Access version of Encased is almost ready, and the Dome will soon be open to everyone. On September 26th, you can begin exploring the enigma that is the Dome!

Those who pledged their support on Kickstarter, or otherwise pre-ordered the game, will receive their keys via email during the Early Access launch. Over the next few days we will send out a questionnaire where you may choose your platform, Steam or GOG.

Now we will answer the biggest question posed by community: "What can we expect in Early Access?"

  • Early Access will include a section of the game's main plot relating the events leading up to and during the Incident.
  • After the prologue, you will have access to some parts of the open world, where you can explore and discover how life under the Dome changed after the disaster.
  • Portions of the desert beneath the Dome will be obscured as anomalous zones, and temporarily inaccessible. But don't worry, regular content updates will gradually open up new sectors of the Dome for you to explore.
  • The open world has a life of its own. Traveling through the desert, you'll meet wandering traders, bandits, wild animals, the Forefathers' machines and anomaly mazes. Sometimes you’ll encounter unique events leading to a quest or acquainting you with one of the Dome’s factions.
  • The Early Access release will include about 40 weapons. In addition, Encased lets players craft their own weapons, which can lead to more than 100 deadly devices in total!

It's made by true fans. The business angel who pays for it is a young millionnaire and crazy Fallout fan, he participates in the process and really cares for the project Very Happy

This definitely looks like it's right up my alley, but I'll wait for the Early Access phase to be completely over before jumping into it. Assuming that it will actually see a 1.0 release Cool Face

Oh it will, I've seen the guys, they're passionate and work hard on it. And they don't depend on money with that rich guy spearheading the whole thing.

It looks decent but also super generic.

We already have wasteland, fallouts, underrail, atom rpg and quite a few lesser known ones, pretty much the same games, same setting.. Didn't anyone play Darksun? Way, way cooler setting than FO or Wasteland.

Also does anyone really appreciate pop culture and other references in games btw? I mean i don't mind if there's a subtle one here and there, but when its advertised as some type of feature i'm beginning to wonder. "we must do it because FO did it!" duh...

Why doesnt anyone do e.g a totally super dark and serious take on it (this war of mine type of tone), or the exact opposite, something totally over the top... no, it must be that exact FO feel.. i understand that devs wants to play it safe, but really, i honestly don't think any of these copy cat devs would alienate FO fans if they did a somewhat different take (tone) on the post apocalyptic setting. and how many old school-super hardcore FO fans are there anyways (vs players who just enjoys a good TB RPG), not many..

It really isn't yer nuclear apocalypse. It's more in Stalker meet SCP setting - a company found some advance civilization ruins in a desert and excavate it and meddling with shit they don't understand. You are not some sole survivor just a company employee or an expandable prison workforce doing stuff for the said company and uncovering what the situation really looks like, at least the earliest release I played.

doesn't really matter, it's your typical FO homage game. You can say the same thing about Underrail or Atom too.. no, they are not in the exact same universe, but anyone can tell the setup as a whole is a 1:1 clone, down to things like tone/humor/amount of grit etc.

Atom is also of course very inspired by STALKER, they even have stalkers as a faction (how very imaginative..). Sorry but i get the same feeling here as i do with Atom, that its extremely unimaginative, almost to the degree that i'm bored before even playing it. I manged around 30h with Atom before i gave up due to the terrible generic nature of it + horrible writing. 30h is pretty decent but with some more effort it could have been a classic. i just hate seeing talent and then its wasted because there was zero effort into e.g writing or quests.

Im sure they'll do fine though, RPG's are getting so bad in this area that people just accept it (have gotten used to it) and praise these types of games to no end. Everyone seems to absolutely love Atom for example.

It sounds interesting. I think you just need to try Encased, and you'll see that we just get inspiration from such gems like Fallout, divinity games series, and other old-school RPGs. We build own unique story and world but don't simply copy the FO style

Hello, everyone!

Today we are pleased to present the second content patch for Encased. The world under the Dome was changed a lot. The game got day and night cycle, new locations, additional quests, characters and a mysterious companion with the fox mask.

We worked hard on an updated combat system, redesigned balance, added new weapons and weapon effects. Variability of the playthroughs was also increased thanks to new dialogue choices, an expanded skill system and additional encounters.
