Unfortunately for me some of/eventually most of the groups seem to be turning to the new version of Xvid. And I have been having some trouble getting the new Xvid codec installed properly. Up to now, I have been using the K-Lite Codec Pack 2.20 FINAL with no problems at all. Some of the new releases now are playing very jerky both on my PC and my standalone Divx player Sad(Yamada DVX-6600). Recent examples of problematic movies:
Man.On.Fire.DVDSCr.DVDRiP.XViD-DvP
Confessions.Of.A.Teenage.Drama.Queen.DVDRiP.XViD-DEiTY
Bad.Santa.UNRATED.DVDRiP.XViD-DEiTY
and for some funny reason Mindhunters.LiMiTED.DVDRiP.XviD-HLS was very choppy too, although I not so sure if that is codec or a rippers fuckup as I have seen a Mindhunters.LiMiTED.DVDRiP.XViD.PROPER-TDR going around too.

Can anyone suggest any other good codec packs for the PC that include the new Xvid codec. If u install the 1.01 release does it play the RC releases without any hickups? As for my stanadalone, I guess for movies that use the new Xvid it's back to the svcd scene for me until Yamada comes out with a new firmware soon.. Sad
thanx

install the latest xvid codec from the xvid home page,
if you don't know how I've posted how to here

If you have ffdshow installed disable xvid in it, then the latest movies should work

thanx cherzo m8 for the site. Yes I have updated to the latest firmware about 1 month ago and the playback is still jerky.
As for installing the new xvid St@m, thanx for the info. I tried all these 3 files :
XviD-1.0-09052004.exe
XviD-1.0-RC4-05042004.exe
XviD-1.0.1-05062004.exe

All 3 files did an installation in a folder in program files\xvid and thats that. No file inside seems to have an option to right click it and install it, as you mention in your other post. As you can understand, the aforementioned movies still play choppy on the pc too Sad
Basically I am looking for a codecpack like the one I was using before (K-Lite Codec Pack 2.20 FINAL) that has all codecs included plus the new xvid drivers.

You really should not use codec packs, you should install each codec separately, that way you know exactly what is inside, with codecs packs you get alot stuff you do not need, and/or might not want, like spyware or adware

You should startup playback of a xvid file on your pc with wmp6.4.
Then look at the properties of the file inside wmp and see what is used to decode the video stream.

If it isn't xvidcode, go to the properties of the codec that _is_ used and disable the decoding feature for xvid.
Or, alternatively goto control panel->multimedia->video codecs and disable inappropriate codecs there.

Codec packs should not be installed.

if the movie gets choppy playing on your PC you should check your ffdshow configuration (start -> programs -> ffshow).
then check the codecs tab, and see if it sais 'libavcodec' next to XVID, change it to XVID1.
if you don't have ffdshow (which i doubt), you really need to d/l it. Razz
and yes, don't ever install codecpacks, they're full of bs you don't need.
if you still get choppy playback after doing what i just said, it's most likely another codec from a codecpack that's interfering/messing it up.

well seriously codec packs usually work, but will give you problems when updating.

True, at first they may. But as said problems tend to happen. I only have Xvid, Divx and AC3 installed.
