Would be nice to see games like X-Wing Alliance, Tie Fighter, X-Wing etc get an update or even a new title in the same mold. The only StarWars space sims around nowadays all look very dated, or they are only the sum of a greater part. (ie: Battlefield series). With todays tech they could look spectacular, but no more arcade ones please.. Jedi Starfighter, StarWars Starfighter, Rogue Squadron (Consoles) etc.
I once even thought about reinstalling galaxies, just to play the Jump To Light Speed part. I remembered someone asked me to snap a shot of the box covers for them on here too many years ago. Except I lost the disks somewhere.. not sure how that was possible. Same thing happened to my Guild Wars 2.. perhaps someone teefed them from my household.
This piqued my interest until someone mentioned it's focus was on MP... not so interested anymore now.. Still if it looks really nice eye candy at least i'd be somewhat happy with that.
According to the leaked press release, Star Wars Squadrons will release on October 2nd. Not only that, but the game will come out on all three major digital stores (Steam, Origin and Epic Games Store).
Star Wars Squadrons will be a first-person space dogfighting game set after the events of Return of the Jedi. The game is developed by Motive Studios and will include both single-player and multi-player campaigns. Furthermore, the game will support cross-play between PC, Xbox One and PS4.
Electronic Arts has also confirmed that the PC version will support VR from the get-go.
Remember, it's EA. They will most definitely do something to fuck it up. If not at launch, then a couple months later when review season has died down.
Buckle up, take full control of starfighters such as the X-wing and TIE fighter, and feel the adrenaline of strategic first-person 5v5 multiplayer dogfights alongside your squadron.
In a fateful campaign set near the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, learn what it means to be a pilot in a thrilling STAR WARS™ single-player story. The New Republic fights for freedom. The Empire demands order. We need you to join the galaxy’s finest. STAR WARS™: Squadrons is available October 2, 2020 on PlayStation®4, Xbox One, Origin PC, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Virtual Reality (VR) on PlayStation 4 and PC with cross-play support.
Tune in to EA Play on June 18, 4PM PT to watch the gameplay world premiere of STAR WARS™: Squadrons.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
That does not look that great since it reminds me too much of the Battlefront 2 space battles already. Now a game like Rebel Galaxy Outlaw with a Star Wars skin to it would be something that would be cool to see giving you freedom to join a side or just be a smuggler with all the great Star Wars ships and locales. Since it would be a single player only EA could not add enough Microtransactions to make it worth doing for them though.
40€ ? Sounds like some kind of half-assed attempt. Still, nice that they price this according to the scope of the game, it's a welcome change.
No gameplay shown so no clear opinion about this, other than they're obviously going for the eZpoRts/competitive trend with 5v5 matches.
Could be fun for what it'll end up being, we'll see. Another X-Wing/Tie-Fighter game would be stretching it, I really wanted a new Rogue Squadron in the least
Squadrons will feature "rich" cosmetic and game-affecting customization options. Players will earn these cosmetics through gameplay exclusively, EA said. That's an important distinction to make, in part because Star Wars: Battlefront II was heavily criticised for its microtransactions.
