Exposure is a continuation of F-STOP in development by us at LunchHouse Software. The mechanics are not based on speculation or heresay. Instead, Exposure uses the original, official code from Valve's own F-STOP, or as it was properly named, Aperture Camera. We've reached out to Valve, who've given us explicit permission to continue with our project using their original code.
What we've shown today are simply the base mechanics of the game. There's a lot of depth to these mechanics, many of which have never been seen by the public. We look forward to sharing more with you all in the near future.

Yeah, they re-uploaded with a clarification. They are not reviving the game, they simply have some Valve source code and permission to make videos that show and document the mechanics of the canceled game.
More videos will follow.

Completely different teams? Valve vs 2 indie devs?
Anyway, the thread was created because at first it seemed like these modders were going to make the game. Only later came the clarification they are simply documenting what they can find about it. Still cool given the mystery and hype about it.

Some drama seems to be brewing as an ex-Valver is disappointed Valve has seemingly given up on the idea of this game (since they are allowing these modders mess around with it and finally reveal the top secret mechanic behind it), while others from the community claim the modders never really got explicit permission by Valve that it's ok to reveal it despite claiming they did, it was more like some individual in Valve without having the full picture told them "sure", and not the legal department.
This makes me a bit sad. It means Valve has abandoned this mechanic/premise and allowed an amateur mod team to own it in the public's eye. I wish you could all see the presentations the F-Stop team did for Valve. So good.
As someone on the outside (not involved with the project at all) and is well-connected in the Source community, this was rather an issue on their end.
I don't know what definition of "you don't have to ask us to show off your modding work" means use leaked + licensed code and "please don't sensationalize things", meaning say we got official exclusive permission from Valve to release this.
They backtracked it to a game shortly after the initial trailer launch because they knew they buggered up.

"Amateur mod team".
Lole. Superliminal was made by like what, 2 guys? Who cares, it already exist and this f-stop thing is irrelevant, it is too late.
Valve fanbois such blind fanbois. There is absolutely nothing special about that project and there is more cool stuff on the way from indies that leave others in dust:

That was a pretty cool effect. I wonder how they'll create a coherent game with that kind of effect (like Portal where the gun only worked on certain surfaces).

Well, what the point if it was already released as Superliminal (super-boring game btw)

No, it speaks volumes about the output of random indies or random modders compared to Valve's.
Take Narbacular Drop vs Portal vs Quantum Conundrum.
One is truly iconic. Guess which.
F-Stop made by Valve wouldn't have been a 1 hour game with a single mechanic as Superliminal was.

My point was that these obnoxious fanbois and just dumb gamer simpletons think Valve is some kind of epitome or platinum standard of videogame making:

Like, only Valve is capable and responsible and deserving enough to work on such concept. This ignorance triggered me, fuck that noise and fuck all valve fanbois with a rusty fork. F-STOP project is absolutely unremarkable and has nothing to offer to the industry as of now besides another puzzler with already known mechanics.
That's not a fanboy, it's an ex-Valve employee you are quoting there. 17 years at Valve. Left on his own this year and never been happier. Critical of his past employer in social media.
But he knows how good the F-Stop concept and demo was and it's not being properly shown in the video by amateur modders. So he thinks it's being wasted.
And no, he did not work on F-Stop himself. It's not a case of "I did it better and you can suck my dick".
