Let's talk about VR games and software, hell maybe even hardware if it makes sense to do so, and what not.

Of course individual threads for each VR game are good too (and are a must for big games such as HL: Alyx).

Anyway, Boneworks is releasing in 30 minutes Smile https://store.steampowered.com/app/823500/BONEWORKS/

Boneworks review: https://uploadvr.com/boneworks-review/

4/5, great VR sandbox, but even though it wants to be the next Valve-title, it obviously can't and isn't.

Seems like Windows mixed reality users are bashing the game right now via Steam reviews (-50%) since it doesn't seems to work well on these devices.

Did these fucks forgot about what Mr Phil Spencer said ?
"Microsoft doesn't care about VR"

Edit : a fix is on the works devs said Smile

Thanks for the thread.

I'll be testing boneworks on my O+ this weekend. I still have Hellblade: Sensua's sacrifice for VR, and Talos Principle VR to test, so its going to be a VR weekend for me.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

No mans sky - on VR is actually good. One of the few games I played until my controllers died in one sitting. Its still no mans sky, so if you don't enjoy the game even after all the updates/fixes VR wont help much..But the way its done in VR is rather good.

Super Hot - Really good in VR I think. It being based on any movement you make while in VR makes it different.

Project Cars 2 - With a wheel/pedal setup a fucking amazing racing experience.

Serious Sam VR Titles - Some are pretty OK..about what I expected. Two of them are stand in one spot and shoot waves, not enjoyable to me at all.

Been looking for a good Horror game, but doesn't seem any out there, or I cant find any. Tried dreadhalls..not scary at all IMO. More annoying to play than anything, and the 'scary' parts did nothing for me.

I think I won't start Boneworks until I finish Superhot and Lone Echo.

Superhot can be... very annoying. It's a fine game, but it saves only after 5 mini-levels or so. I have lost progress many times because I had to quit.

played a bit of boneworks (bought it)
that is one long ass tutorial section Laughing

decided to take a break after completing the tutorial sections, hopefully it doesn't reset.
the IK and physical hands are still pretty jank, particularly when carrying large objects and throwing etc.

the grip buttons for holding things on the vive don't bother me too much any more (i guess the buttons are easier to press after a few years of bashing them), although i'm glad the guns are sticky grip. one thing i do have beef with is how the slow motion controls are on the same controller as the movement and it's damn hard to press both at once, i wish they put it on the other hand or made the slow-mo a toggle.

so far i have absolutely no idea what's going on with the story or what i am doing Laughing
but all up it feels very half-lifey which is cool. i also already punched a wall and even the ceiling so it gives you a pretty good idea of the awkward movements required in game Laughing
and yes, you will need your vr legs, both in-game and out - there is a lot of vertical movement.
i like the part of the tutorial that makes fun of people still using teleport Very Happy

also my vision is starting to get really bad after 2 years of using my low budget 3d setup to watch 3d porn vids

and by low budget i mean crossing my eyes until the left and right image merge in the middle with depth

Depends on your budget.

But a Rift S on sale is definitely the best bang for the buck.

Of course Black Friday just passed so it might be a while

The problem with the WMR headsets like the Odyssey+ is the support can be wonky and the controllers are not exactly amazing.

And of course if you can afford the Index...
