nice game, thought it would be boring but it feels a lot like the 3D version of Monaco, smashing through areas looking for hidden loot
vehicle physics are better than they have any business being
performance is a bit meh (to be expected with voxels i guess) and there's some shader effects you can't turn off.
can someone page me when nvidia/amd are accelerating voxels instead of decelerating lights
The developer(s) has really improved the gfx compared to the early tech demos I saw in some thread on ze hump plenty of years ago.
"..and the atmosphere and fog looks suitably thick and properly lit. It gives the games' pseudo scandinavian environments, that haziness you might expect with truly gorgeous volumetric lighting..."
pseudo scandinavian?
Looks more like a british dock/port than scandinavia. Oh well.
Yes, but I bet you do not apply this leval of pedantism to all the games you play
Seems as if this game performs badly on Radeons due to shitty OpenGL drivers? This guy is a technical genius, but I wonder why he didn't implement this on Vulkan.
Lucky to get over 70 a lot of the time, sometimes 80. Frequent dips to 30 when stuff starts to crumble
Have to cap it to 60 for it to feel good. On the RTX2080 machine it barely maintains 60
disable vsync or enable triple buffering. The game goes to har 30 when it drops otherwise.
For me, even on 3080, when I destroy way to much, it just goes to 7fps
It's about 60-70fps on 4k 50% scaling otherwise....
3080, ps5, lg oled
Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"
4k 50% is, I assume, 50% on each axis, thus just 1920x1080 just 60-80fpsnon a 3080?
And I felt bad because my 5700xt is sweating at 1440p
I had to disable motion blur, head bobbing and depth of field though to make sure that I don't throw up. I regularly leave these effects on in any other game but here it was sickening.
It doesn't have any characters in it, right? It's kind of cool but to really shine it would need to be kind of a mix with a "normal" engine too i think.. Realistic physics - everything else minecraft level of realism, don't really care for that type of mix.
One step forward, 2 steps backwards kind of thing. Cool nonetheless and good to support it..

I'm 100% sure that's in the works. They had early demos showing off AI pathfinding and decently animated soldiers, as well as mønster spiders. Can't find the vid anymore cus so much new teardown stuff on youtube. But the tec appears to support it and it's kind of a natural extension anyway.
Did he said anything about adding weight to the materials. Right now it's only affected by forces but everything is weightless. Of course I haven't played it and am speaking from my ass but that how it looks in this tweet:
sar·casm | \ ˈsär-ˌka-zəm \
1: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain
2a: a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual
b: the use or language of sarcasm

noice... could eventually get really interesting..
Meh. Tried collapsing a building slamming down base level: this doesn't affect the upper floor untill it has lost all support. Then it just falls down without collapsing. It's just voxels doing weird voxel stuff.
Campaign ifeels obligatory so they can sell it as "a real game" instead of a tech demo. It's shit.
So it's a mediocre tech demo with minecraft like graphics with raytracing and poor physics.
Bought and played a few missions. The missions felt like Thief but in reverse, instead of sneaky you are as loud as it gets.
The graphics are way, way better than Minecraft which i played recently and i just couldn't get into it, it looks so terrible imo..
If you accept that it's a world of voxels and not a world which is trying to depict real life, then the physics is a ton of fun, i didn't really care that it wasn't 100% realistic, but it would've been nice.
Not sure i think it deserves the "Overwhelmingly Positive" score, it's not that good of a game.
