Lots of YT-ers who deal in indie tycoon/management games started playing this all of a sudden and it seem to be extremely popular among them.
The main idea seem to be that instead of having a few very versatile transport systems available to the player, there are a few more present here, all with a very niche utility to them (one is great at moving stuff long distance, another is good for moving stuff between machines, another for loading for export, etc), and making them all work together looks like great fun.
Just to get an idea of what can be done here, watch a couple minutes of the first episode Skye did for a quick rundown of what's the goal, and then watch a couple minutes of the latest episode to see how ridiculous things can get.
The best thing: it's coming out in a couple hours on Steam. No idea if it's coming out in EA...
Game is pretty fun, but it seems that replayability is relatively low as there amount of options available to built your factories is quite limited. I think you'll always follow the same path eventually.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
Lots of completely arbitrary and nonsense limitations kinda break it for me. It's great fun to build efficient layouts, but when the game doesn't allow me to route a conveyor belt through a door, that's just artificial limitation for the sake of game mechanics.
Definitely enjoyable, just go in expecting a bit of a puzzle game, and it can be good fun.
I played it for many hours, even tho my initial thought was rather negative.
But Iknow why.
It's great at what it isn't, building lines, rails, stuff, etc. Stuff moves all over the place and it fills me with joy, lol. I like a game with trains and shuffling items around, sue me
But it absolutely sucks at what it is. A Puzzle Sim.
The Joy I am getting is trying to get the best "system". BUT once you figured that out, the game is over. Every map will play the exact same. You can't change your stuff, because why would you? The whole "export items for cash vs pay taxes" system blocks any kind of freedom beyond what's "best".
I am still trying to find a perfect combo, lol, and that part IS fun, but it doesn't matter on which map you play.
This game would be so great if it was more open-ended with researches that actually would/could make you change stuff. Right now, basically no research will change anything in the long run, except the truck and train interval reduction.
This combined with factory, oh what a beautiful child it would be
And no satisfactory ain't that child, not yet anyway. But it's getting there, hopefully.
I like how every building block fits with very logically the rest and figuring out the most optimal way to make use of space and all. The videos posted above of Skye Storme are really good.
But it's such a chore to built your factory, to realize at the very end you're 1 tile short and have to destroy everything and try again.
You don't lose money by selling machines after placing them (which is a good thing), but then it basically comes down to the game wasting your time, instead of allowing you to just expand your existing factory with an extra tile.
The tax system is quite weird; every in-game week you pay 2% for the total amount you ever sold. So it's an ever increasing number, forcing you to expand all the time, while one of the parts that makes these games so addictive is being able to sit back and enjoy your handy work
The tax system is designed to "end" your session at some point.
They created an easy mode where it gets rid of the tax system. Honestly, they should of created a research option to enable research of some accounting stuff to limit it's impact.
