"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
I don't like how clean it looks. I'm used to it looking more dirty, more grainy.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."

From the WB logo already it feels odd. The whole thing feels like it's been designed using today's digital techniques, which is not true.

I watched one episode, the went back to the old one.
Despite the better resolution and sharpness I'd say the original series is more atmospheric. The colour palette is much brighter in the remaster, which kinda defeats what they did in the original.
Fun fact: it was drawn on black paper with bright colours, unlike the industry standard of white paper with dark colours.
My favorite super hero cartoon of all time, maybe apart from Superman from Fleischer Studios (1941). Instant mood booster
The original DVD version has a blue hue filter over it, which looks great for any night scene (tons of those here). It's a mixed bag to say the least, not sure why they would remove the filter since the creators most likely did the whole series like this, with e.g greenish skies instead of blue, because they meant to finalize it with the addition of a blue filter to bind things together naturally colorwise.
Not a fan of the figures that comes with box, i have no idea how people like shit like those figures. Got tons of Batman figures myself, but they're meant to look natural and are very detailed, these looks like toys for a 2 year old.
Funko pops is gay.
Prior releases were just tv rips.... digitized...
Any filters and what not were to... mask imperfections....
This is much cleaner than what were used to.
Its a massive upgrade.
If theyre capable of this level of restoration, they can make serious bank with animaniacs and other warner brother properties.
Would deffo buy a childhood collection or sub to dcu for this shit. Everybody needs a bit of nostalgia. We grew up watching on crts, dowloaded 480rips when we got older... cleaner doesnt mean better... but that clean crisp audio sure does

The blueish hue is most likely there to bind everything together since cartoons does not have natural lighting... in real life everything in our surroundings have a certain hue depending on light (it's in the blue or yellow spectrum).
The green skies we get in this version is probably due to the creators knowing that green + the addition of a blue filter later on would create the color they intended.
Many games does this, not a fan of it when it's added in 3D games (fallout 3 for example) since 3D should be able to light the scene naturally without filter. For 2D you will have to take extreme attention to the hues that you paint with for each scene, something which they probably didn't have time to do here and decided to instead tack on a filter..
I have the raw DVD of the episode literally playing on my computer as I write this and the above comparison by Warner is fake.
The colors ARE like that, I'm not talking about this. But the DVD is much sharper than what they show in the YouTube clip. You have to take the DVD and compress to half its resolution to get as blurry results as they show.
This doesn't take away from how much sharper the Blu-ray is and the restoration work they did, I just don't particularly like they are lying to sell copies.

Yup fake as fuck. Seen it on all kinds of devices, media over the decades and I have never seen it as that blurry.
From what i have been able to find the DVD's are actually just the TV-"rips" so there should be no difference quality wise, probably more down to the encoding if so..
here's a comparison i made - their claim vs a crappy rip from TPB
so yeah, the DVD rip (which probably isnt that great to begin with) is no where near the material they have (which should be the best available, not a crappy pirate rip)
Not confirmed yet, but I will be shocked if it doesn't happen.

Batman Beyond announced for Blu-ray release on October 29th, 2019.
It will include a newly remastered copy of the Return of the Joker film.
Unfortunately, 11 of the 52 episodes will have to be upscaled and cleaned-up from tape instead of the original negative due to "time-worn irreparable damage".
Also Season 3 (13 episodes) switched to digital from film, so the masters they will be working from should be 480p only, I would imagine.
Still, all episodes are going to look much better than the DVDs for sure with today's upscaling and mastering technology and no need to put interlaced content on disc and so on, and half of them are going to be as crystal clear as the work done in Batman: TAS Blu-ray.
They also released a comparison:
which I'm sure it's as disingenuous as the one they released for TAS, which they really didn't need to do it, anyone who has watched the TAS Blu-ray release will tell you the upgrade to the sharpness, colors and stabilitiy is clear as day, they don't need to fake how bad the original looked..
Bruce Timm also mentioned if sales are high enough, the series might get resurrected..
