Hi guys!

I have an issue with RTSS's OSD not working for just DX9 and any older games. It works for most recent games, but I have a few older games like GTA IV, Borderlands 2 etc for which the OSD doesn't seem to work or activate. Are these games not supported?

It's a rather unusual behavior, I don't have those two games installed for testing but RTSS definitely has full DX9 support (Windows 10). Playing around with the Compatibility Properties could help (accessible trough the blue 'Setup' button on the RTSS interface), forcing the application detection level to High might be useful as well. If the problem persists you could try a different version (there are betas also). All banal advices that probably won't be of any help, worth a shot though Smile

Thanks ixi! I have tried getting multiple versions of RTSS and High Level detection and even manually adding the game in the list, but nothing seems to work. Not sure what's going on. Sad

Does a stack trace show the injected dll?

hmmmm,

Are those Games by any chance "32Bit"?
Are you using anything else? like reshade or sweetfx?

If youre using reshade or something else also, be shure to aktivate the "custom direct 3d support" option..

Second if the games are an 32bit executable you might wanna try setting it up like seen in the left picture..

Not shure if this has anything to do with it to be honest..

Theres also a chance to make it work when testing teh different:
On screen display rendering mode / Vector 2s / vector 3d / Raster 3d
On screen dosplay coordinate space / try Framebuffer also..

NVidia also changed some stuff in its driver, did you start RTSS in admin mode?

you might wanna change that and test if that makes a difference..

Does this app rely on injecting a dll to a process? I think the cracked version of GTA4 uses a loader executable. You should check out the processes running and make sure you target the proper one, hope this helps.

Quick update, I was able to uninstall both MSI Afterburner & RTSS (with settings being wiped clean) and re-installed it.

Now the display shows up perfectly for those games. Although, as I was testing through the older bunch of games that I have, Bully Scholarship Edition won't bring up the OSD display. I'd using the Silent Patch for it, which renders the game in 60fps. Could that be an issue?

@Ampee: How do I check the stack trace you're talking about?

@3E74: Thank you for the detailed effort! However, I don't seem to have the 32-bit and 64-bit option selection as shown in your first screen-cap of MSI Afterburner.

@@VGAdeadcafe : Yep, I believe it does and that's what Ampee was talking about too. However, it's not just GTA IV, but was any DX9 based title, which was very odd. It's working now (barring Bully). I'll have to test a few more games to be sure. Thanks again!
