Quote:
It’s official. Oscar-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis is fully aboard Disney’s live-action remake of its animated classic Pinocchio. He’ll direct, and co-write the next draft with Chris Weitz for a possible year-end production start.

Casting is still being determined.

Apart from Tom Hanks and the (obligatory black token) fairy queen, it could as well have been all CGI.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

Pinocchio looks out of place compared to all of the rest, I understand wanting to stick with the motion picture design, but his eyes for instance just look odd.. They didn't emulate the looks of wood all that well, in my opinion.

Tom Hanks as Gepetto just doesn't work in the slightest for me either, it just looks and sounds very off to me as well, I just don't buy the whole old Italian woodworker vibe out of him regardless of costumes.. maybe I'm being weird though Laughing

Guillermo del Toro's version going to eat Disney's version for breakfast Laughing

Still, it looks like they still included some of the famous scenes from the movie, but I agree that most of the CGI characters looks bad, also the blue fairy.

"Honest" John looks great tough, but no wonder it's going to be released for Disney+ instead of theater Laughing

Agreed, I don't care about the casting but making the Blue Fairy bald is just.. weird. If for some reason they didn't even want her to display her curly hair but thought it was better for her to appear bald.. it's even worse Laughing - but I don't really know their reasons either, not interested in it enough but I figure it has to be discussed somewhere in interviews.

Del Toro's version is the one to be looking out for indeed Very Happy
