Anyone else noticed, that EA has almost stopped doing anything? The next "big thing" is the CnC remastered... in June...

Last news on Origin dates from February and was about the 1 year anniversary of Anthem...

No new Games have been added to Access, no other new games have been announced, just like they stopped working or better, existing, lol.

They are due to release their 4th quarter and end of financial year (ended March 31) results on May 5. They'll probably talk a bit about near-term stuff going forwards during that.

They are unlikely to just keel over suddenly, even if active development has slowed. I'm sure they are still making a shitload of revenue from FIFA microtransations, etc.

Well I doubt Android Wilson does anything out of the goodness of his heart (since he doesn't have one). I'm sure they weighed up all their legal liability, effects on worker productivity, potential negative publicity and chose the best course of action based on all that. You can be sure anything EA does is ultimately done to benefit their bottom line above any other concern. If they can look good in the process then that's a PR bonus.

Personally don't care, their game releases are listed here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Electronic_Arts_games:_2010%E2%80%93present

C&C may be the first EA release I'll pirate since. -> ...ME3 (2012 & didn't finish), 2011 ME2 & first Dead Space being the last games I liked published by EA.

Focusing on core franchises I suppose, Fifa and Sims and some of their casual oriented or F2P games would likely keep them afloat without taking risks though they do seem to be investing in Bioware even post Andromeda and Anthem including getting them a new office building.

Think it was the former CEO that was heavily into online components and also not to keen on remastering or re-releasing games though I don't imagine they will do much with their older franchises even if that sadly also means they are unlikely to consider selling them off to studios that would be interested in continuing those games.

Dice is also around even if some of the older staff has since departed and I assume EA still likes to go with Frostbite where possible but Unreal Engine 4 also sees some use which likely helps portability and cross platform development plus it's less specialized than what Frostbite at least was at the start from what's known during Dragon Age Inquisition and Mass Effect Andromeda developer info and troubles.

Not sure what's going on with them and indie games, there were a few and those are still tied up to Origin AFAIK though that's the same as Ubisoft also focusing more on established franchises lately even if they have a whole ton of little satellite studios to spread development and different tasks among.

Far Cry 6, Watch_Dogs 3, Assassin's Creed Viking and what not plus supporting existing titles for years like For Honor or Rainbow Six Siege.
(Plus some experimentation when it feels like expanding Division and Wildlands would have been a better idea but oh well and they still attempt to turn it around but eh I don't expect too much.)

Hmm what else am I missing well there's the Playstation 5 and new XBox so there's going to be announcements later this year from many of the bigger studios no doubt whether it's cross platform and backwards compatible or exclusives plus platform exclusivity as usual.

Wonder what ray tracing can do for some of those games, reflective body sweat? Razz
(Though those fighting games have declined a bit as well though are still hanging on even if some established bigger franchises get most of the popularity.)

Need for Speed - Super Shiny Chrome yeah racing games could probably benefit nicely from this tech too.

Codemasters might have some issues though they like to cover up their vehicles with dirt and mud and I suppose street racing is more popular among the current gaming generation or maybe it's more about arcade and less sim though simulators are still going. Smile

Well as to EA maybe they've started lessening the whole closing less successful studios finally even if much of that was from way before and partially also from executive meddling and marketing analytics and popularity and trending genres.

Would expect new Fifa and other core franchises for the new platform launch and console generation. Unsure how this whole online GAAS or F2P situation will develop including MMO's or just general online play and categories for that.

Should be something for Battlefield or Battlefront even if EA can't out compete Activision and Call of Duty now that's a publishing studio that really specialize even if they do some publishing of other titles too.
(Wonder what some of them like Raven would be doing but perhaps they would simply not be around at all.)

Hell even if they lose Battlefield I would expect the sports games to hold them up financially even if some restructuring might be needed, there's some extreme cash flow into how EA is doing their sports games and what add-ons and packs players buy in bulk.

EA Sports to the game indeed. Very Happy
(Proof that the Avatar was under the Guardians influence as of Ultima IX Ascension as that's what played if you interacted with the computer system in the tutorial area ha ha.)

EDIT: Well there's that and then Sims, various family or casual oriented games and others that are also incredibly profitable.

Not that I see Battlefield or Battlefront going away, Need for Speed will probably also be around and they've already changed it into a number of different racing categories so it's pretty flexible too.
(Dice would have to tank pretty spectacularly for anything like that to happen, BF5 might have had a rough start but it seems to be holding up even so.)

Remasters and taking risks is a bit more vague and studios like Bioware and Respawn well guess we'll just have to wait and see what EA is doing there.
(Dragon Age 4 something is at least known.)

Suppose this new console generation might see some new franchises same as always, some of it'll work and some of it will fail or be cancelled or rebooted business as usual there.

Usually, they announce around their EA Play E3 month. This year just the same yearly sports titles, SIMS DLCs, Apex updates, Battlefield update, PvZ update, mobile games, C&C remastered...and maybe another NFS game.

Not expecting any new title or reboot this year. Anthem 2.0 maybe around Christmas but less likely.

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Maybe it’s some covid-19’s DLC, EAvid-20 or something.

EA indeed looks strange. At least they could add DLSS 2.0 to BF V.

With regards to product launches in fiscal 2021, we will add at least one more sports title to our annual slate. We will launch Medal of Honor VR. We’ll deliver some exciting remasters of fan favorites, including the Command & Conquer game we’ve already disclosed. And we have two new unannounced EA Partners titles coming from third-party developers. In addition, we have other unannounced titles in the FY21 slate, we will give specifics nearer the time.
