I have an ASUS B250 Gaming mobo. I have filled all 6 sata connections with HD's. I have 2-M.2 slots. Can I put the M.2 SSDs in there also to add more storage? Or does the filled sata slots cancel those M.2 slots out? Haven't had clear nfo on this? Thank you

rtfm, page 8

sata_1 is only blocked when m2 sata device is plugged in into m2_1

if you are using nvme device in either m2_1 or m2_2 nothing will be cut

Sorry @PickupArtist not sure what you mean? My 1 SSD has the OS on it and all the others are filled with all my games? I had no clue I could be selective with HD's turning on? Could you please point me in the right direction on this info? Thank you!

"I have filled all 6 sata connections with HD's. I have 2-M.2 slot"

what kind of hds are this lol , 250gigs ? but yes seriously , get one boot/most used games m2 drive, 1 sata 2 terra and sell the rest while u still have warranty on them

fast internet replaced the need to keep ur games installed at all times Smile, old stuff aint cool anymore, its heavy, loud and power wasting and ur using up the lifespan of the drives spinning components having them booting everytime for no real reason

im using 4x2tb drives + 2 sata ssds too aswell as my nvme drive and 2x4tb in the nas (+a few older 500gb models as backup drives for important data, all with the same data on it)

and no its not per se harmful for the drive to have them running all the time. i.e. if you use an external bay and power it on multiple times a day its worse than having them running in your desktop for 16 hours a day

doing it that way since ever, only had one drive failure in the last 20 years (160gb sata1 samsung hdd, got replaced within a few days. keeping them in a good temperature is the key. either they die within the first few months or they live forever)
