Hey i have a question i have problems with a little lag sometimes when sound fx go off on BF2.
I think its my sound card im using a Sound blaster live value
My board (Asus A8v Deluxe) has a built in card
ALC850 Avance AC'97
Which one is better and which one should i be using here are the specs on the built in card
AI Audio Realtek ALC850, 8-channel CODEC
Audio Sensing and Enumeration Technology
Three Universal Audio Jack (UAJ)
Coaxial/Optical S/PDIF out ports on back I/O
Here are my computer specs
Asus A8V deluxe
AMD 64 bit 3200+
1 GIG dual channel DDR 3200 333mhz I think
6800 GT

Remove the card and use the ac97.

Seriously is it that much better
If thats teh case i will probably buy a new sound blaster 24 bit i dont trust on board

With the card in, did you disable the onboard sound using the bios?

the Soundblaster Live is better than this onboard card, and it should give you better fps too. Try to put the card into another PCI slot with less IRQ sharing, sometimes that helps.

soundblaster is better hardware-wise BUT it causes some totally stupid problems like scratches etc that piss ppl off. So if you experience any weird popping and scratching sounds from your speakers, diasable SB and go with the onboard card.

yea i had it disabled but then i enabled it and tried he onboard one but could only run bf2 on software not hardware with the lvie i can run it on hardware

I downloaded drivers for it but which one is better for real the sound blaster or the on board??

At that price yeah I guess so.
I bought an Audigy 2 ZS platinum myself and am not disappointed one bit (really brings my speaker system alive - and I haven't experienced any of the problems you might hear of on the internet). But I've installed an original Audigy 1 & 2 for friends in the past and they still had that same effect on me so for that price I'd take the 'plunge' - but I myself would buy one of the newer models (you don't need platinum though unless you want the front panel).
