Sources tell Variety that Andy Serkis, “Bumblebee” director Travis Knight and Rupert Wyatt are among the directors meeting for the coveted job on the film that has Tom Hardy set to return in the title role. Insiders say these are just meetings and no one has moved into a front-runner position.
Ruben Fleischer directed the first pic in 2018, but is not returning as he is in post-production on “Zombieland: Double Tap.”
Sony hopes to shoot the film in the fall.

Andy Serkis seems like an odd choice for their top 3 since he basically only directed 1 thing so far that people may have seen, that Mowgli film for Netflix unless they just think he learned great directing by osmosis from all his collaborations with Peter Jackson or the other directors he did motion capture performances for.
With his attention to detail for motion capture characters, he's obvious actor-turned-director material. Whether he directs Venom 2 or not, you will see him direct more stuff in the future for sure.

Miller is making a terrible terminator movie, and the marketing team is already on damage control blaming men, before the movie bombs or gets bad reviews. Same as Ghostbusters.

oh I remember Venom..great movie. Hope the second is as good as first. Lately with all the shit comic movies released (Godzilla, Avengers, Captain Marvel, Hellboy, Wonder Woman), I have my doubts.
Hardy posted a picture of Serkis on his instagram and he deleted it immediately later.
I think Serkis will get the gig.

The actor-turned-filmmaker will be tackling his first comic book movie as director.
Andy Serkis is officially stepping into Venom's goo.
The filmmaker has closed a deal to direct Venom 2, Sony's sequel to the 2018 film that grossed $856 million at the global box office. The sequel, part of the company's stable of Spider-Man related and Marvel-centric characters, will once again star Tom Hardy as the journalist who joins with an alien symbiote.

The first one was "bleh". This one is going to be utter trash. When Gollum directs and actors are "heavily involved" in writing the movie you KNOW it's going to be trash.
Richardson is one of the industry’s most illustrious cinematographers, and one of the go-to guys for Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone.
In addition to Once Upon a Time, Richardson has worked with Tarantino since the Kill Bill movies as well as Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight.
He worked with Scorsese numerous times, shooting Casino, Bringing Out the Dead, Shine a Light, The Aviator, Shutter Island and Hugo. The latter and Aviator netted him Oscar wins.
His work with Stone ranged from Platoon and Wall Street to JFK (another Oscar win) and Natural Born Killers.

The sequel will also feature Shriek as an additional villain. In the comics she is the sidekick and romantic interest of Carnage.

Spiderman belongs to Sony and is on borrowed time with marvel. If Sony is smart, bring Tom Holland in. His adventures in mcu will be canon to mcu. His adventures in Sony spider verse will be canon to Sony Spiderman
