Feige spoke about the feature film Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and detailed how the legend has been hinted at in the MCU films since Marvel Studios' Iron Man.
In an unanticipated surprise for all, Kevin Feige then announced the confirmed casting of Simu Liu in the title role of Shang-Chi and both the actor and the director, Destin Daniel Cretton, came on stage to greet the audience. Kevin also shared with the audience the casting of Awkwafina in a yet-to-be-disclosed role. Then, Kevin revealed to the Hall H audience that the real Mandarin will be played by celebrated Chinese actor Tony Leung.
Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will arrive in theaters on February 12, 2021.
are they fighting in front of a giant painting (or green screen more likely) so that its supposed to look like they're in a forest? this looks terrible.
It's probably that ugly-ass screen thing from The Mandalorian, which everyone seemed to insist was unnoticeable, but in fact was extremely noticeable and distracting
In the current climate where people are easily offended im surprised there aren't people screeching that the Asians are appropriating hip hop culture with this movie.
I really think the whole reason they made this was after the non comic book people complaining about Iron Fist being white so Marvel was like here is your Asian Master of Kung Fu. At least with Black Panther people actually read the comic books before the movie but no one was like when is that next issue of Shang-Chi Master of Kung Fu coming out as a lot of these recent movie and show choices feel like they are just trying to find different groups so that can say they are all inclusive.
I can't take this actor seriously after playing retarded character in Kims Convenience and Awkwafina is in it too.....jeez
I have this same issue with Jon Bernthal and John Krasinski. Both look so dopey and silly even with a beard that I can't take them seriously in any action film/series.
I never heard of Shang-Chi until they presented their Phase 4 line-up. That character was never in any of the marvel comics I bought in the 80'ies and 90'ies. Meh, they can stuff this movie up their meat packer.
Me neither. Sounded like a „we need to cater to the chinese market type of character“. But its banned in China now? *Marvel hit itself in its confusion.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
I remember him form some x-men crossovers from the early 00's and that's it. His power was being a master of kung-fu (duh) and apparently much faster than normal while doing it.
This movie looks like nothing more than blah blah blah muh representation blah blah blah muh culture on screen etc etc etc.
Ofc, from what appeared on the trailer at least. Who knows if the complete film will have some entertaining tie-in's with the rest of the MCU.

I wonder if Ben Kingsley will make an uncredited appearance as fake Mandarin in this film since they brought back Abomination as seen in the trailer so it seems they are trying to tie it into some of the older films. With Abomination it feels like they want people to know the character before he appears in the She-Hulk TV show as many people probably forgot him in the Ed Norton Hulk film since that technically is the second MCU film.

I enjoyed watching it in IMAX when it was screening.. it's nothing groundbreaking and is cliché as hell (then again, all Marvel movies are), but it's entertaining enough. Strongly suggest some of you to give it a try
It also didn't scream "representation" or whatever woke crapeola to me at all, it was not in your face whatsoever, it merely suggested some Asian-American centric themes but is that bad in itself ? Didn't think so within the movie and it was light enough to be sensible to me - and the Asian people I watched it with found it pretty tasteful. All in all, it was a very pleasant watch provided you don't set your expectations above your regular MCU movie. I did like the first half better than the second though, it became more generic (provided it already starts off MCU-generic) as it progressed.
I didn't know of the main actor at all, apparently for the best He did a relatively fine job.
If that was an attempt at the Chinese market, it's not a very good one at all. While the story deals with Confucian ideals (duh) and mostly showcases it positively, its underlying message is to both respect and oppose them with a healthy "USA good guy" balance. I doubt China was their target at all.
It's a 6-7/10 movie, it deserves a bit more than the treatment it got here so far though

Nah movie deserves a 6 from hardcore MCU fans.
Movie itself is Netflix levels of shit cheap movie making.
Shit CGI
Shit green screen
Stereotypical characters.
Simple plot.
Follows MCU formula too closely, doesn't steer away.
No real threat.
Shit action scenes.
Movie got good reviews because of politics at the time it came out.
Also they made aquafina look like Mickey Rooney from breakfast at Tiffany's with her behavior and facial expressions.
Movie is an honest 4-5/10
I guess, its shortcomings didn't strike me when I watched it, didn't seem much worse/better than the rest of MCU movies which all are 5 to 7/10 movies at best to me. Maybe the fact that I was stoned like bricks improved it as well
I figure I also digested it better since that was my first superhero movie since Avengers Part 2 Those movies are always better in little and far apart doses.
Forgive me hump
