A release of hardware that clearly isn't ready for consumers, the foldable screen is breaking for a lot of people and they're waiting for replacements.

(video from ~1.5 weeks ago)

A lot broke due to "user error", ie. they removed what they thought was the protective layer that always comes with new phones that you peel off and perhaps replace with proper screen protectors. Samsung didn't warn their customers NOT to remove the protective layer (the screen will die sooner rather than later if you remove it). T-Mobile did put a warning on their branded Samsung Fold phones.

It does seem like that protective layer isn't particularly protective since dust and stuff can enter under the layer and ruin the phone.

A pity. Hopefully Samsung and other manufacturers learn the lesson and do some more work on their new fancy technology.

But damn, a $2K phone that you treat like a baby and it still breaks. I'd go ballistic (unless I'm a millionaire).

2K$ or whatever the cost for Le Foldable...And on day 1 this...This is worse, in price, than the dying RTXs on their first batch grinhurt

But yeah, hurts a shit ton...I'm sure the answer is obvious but... "Don't they test these before release for long periods of tests, including FOLDING A TON?" grinhurt

The launch has been delayed:

etc.

I guess they'll have people open every single box ready to be shipped to add a warning label. Laughing

seems they only tested them in a lab, didnt give them to normal people to try before releasing them or they would have realised that they needed to stop people from delaminating the screens.

seems theyre made up of many layers and people can ruin them easily.
