It's at least the third time that Scott tries to push for this ridiculous idea, and all the scripts so far have been so abysmal that fortunately, we never got to see 2 Gladiator 2 Furious. He's probably found a (slightly) more reasonable one now, although it still classifies as completely unnecessary for obvious reasons. Unless it's a direct sequel starring Chris Pratt as Caligula and Melissa McCarthy as Milonia Caesonia, that is

The Ridley Scott we once knew have gone the way many other directors went towards the end of their careers; making shitty movies with one or two sprinkled out during the last decade, in this case The Martian and Prometheus... and while Prometheus had it's problems I thoroughly enjoyed it. After not getting any funding or support for the sequel to Prometheus he made the abysmally crappy Alien: Covenant.

There was too much in Prometheus and Covenant that i disliked for me to enjoy it. Especially Covenant.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

I remember reading the script a long time ago about Gladiator 2 taking place in the Roman mythos underworld with Maximus searching for his family and trying to save them, meeting gods etc. A huge exploration of afterlife akin to the Prometheus creation mythos. It was brave and weird for sure (And probably fake)
