I want to build a cheapass rig with a Ryzen 3 2200g APU and this motherboard for a friend but he has a very old monitor, it may be d-sub connection only. In the motherboard's specs it says:

Quote:
1 x DVI-D port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200@60 Hz
* The DVI-D port does not support D-Sub connection by adapter.

Confused Confused I can't use an adapter?

It's not a real adapter, it just rewires analog output from DVI-I (which emits both analog and digital signal on separate pins) into D-Sub pin layout. DVI-D emits digital component only so there is nothing to rewire. You will need a real active digital to analog converter which is a bit more expensive (but not so much, e.g. on Aliexpress).

All HDMI to D-Sub converters are active. The converter circuits are very small now and can fit into a larger HDMI male connector chasis, but it's still active real-time conversion of the signal.

Well that clears it up, thanks. I saw some gameplay videos of the 2200G in action and its GPU capabilities are a tiny bit lower than I hoped. And then there's this little extra cost for an adapter.

Are there any other good APUs? Well, except the 2400G which is a bit better but way more expensive, not worth it.
