In the comments the uploader says he just added english subs to the video so no there is no official english translation coming, this game and the whole series apparently uses a lot of old Chinese which is very hard to translate so i doubt will actually ever happen.
Oh, c'mon, learn chinese. There are just three different languages to learn; Mandarin, Cantonese and Shanghai. Then you have the different dialects and you're set.
Game has a really weird online only DRM from what i can see, i'm definately interested but that's a huge turnoff fro a sp game even the save games are only stored on the chinese cloud servers.

whoa , thats been quite a quick nope

You can't save your progress if you lose the connection with the server while you are playing.
The game won't kick you out if you wait for the game to reconnect with its server by just letting your main character standing still and pray for yourself.
If you try to move to another area which requires loading or enter a cutscene while the game informs you can't connect to the server at the moment, you will be kicked back to your windows desktop and lose any progress which has not yet saved on the server.
After a few hours it's not bad, decent if a bit stiff and sometimes too literal of a translation but it's also very thorough and later updates could potentially fix these little issues with the current English script.
Still defaults to Chinese though and most of the Steam page itself is also full Chinese plus the in-game options menu for actually switching over to English but after that it's pretty straightforward.
China has quite a extensive history so there's probably some fun creative punishment somewhere in there for whoever thought cloud saving via server side was a good deterrent though at least there are both US and CH servers driven by Microsoft Azure I think it was so it should be robust if nothing else...until they switch the servers off at least and the game has to be finished in a single sitting.
Took a few hours to get through what I labeled the prologue and I'm currently in what seems to be the first major city area with Vision Engine delivering a fairly solid graphical presentation and it also runs well and supports mouse and keyboard plus gamepad mode.
Heavenly Sword or Legendary Sword and the usual tropes about ... a sword! Plus of course mysticism legends and myths and so on.
Nice that everything is fully voice acted too and there's a mix of side quests and little activities like fishing (Of course there's fishing!) although while often open the levels are also mostly linear and progression is straightforward though backtracking later on lets the player revisit and clear out treasures and what not that might not have been possible to get initially.
(Quite a bit of hidden loot just by exploring roofs and side areas but there's still plenty of actual invisible walls to not end out off the map boundaries.)
Not too many party members at the moment mostly just The Dude Protagonist and some sidekick which I guess will also change later on as various characters are introduced early on and given a bit of story time and buildup.
There is a bit of a lack of proper manly facial hair but at least one of the characters seem to be the living embodiment of the 1980's or something to that degree being all large and in charge and over the top.
Just arrived and everything is already FUBAR isn't that great.
And the comic relief and fuzzy friend probably has some role later on too.
First of the larger cities after what felt like a pretty lengthy introduction to the basics of the game and setting us up the plot.
(Yeah that one is old now.)
Cities seem pretty decently sized and the activity and characters in them are nice though a bit static and as per the norm most interior areas are simply not there though some exploration is still possible.
What more is there to say combat? Well it's flashy and mixing in light and fast attacks but then also throwing attacks and combinations of dodging, jumping and parrying plus blocking with boss battles varying it up against a number of different common mobs though they really love spamming their abilities so misses can easily be punishing when a AoE hits your character multiple concurrent times as a result.
It's not very difficult though and bosses end up being more about timing and direction while whittling down their health and the standard about learning attack patterns and avoiding most of their abilities which otherwise will hit a fair number of times.
Itemization seems geared towards crafting and various supply items and battle items though armor and weapons also exist but are found fairly infrequently and can also be powered up but that needs some additional resources, money is also a thing but most of the hidden treasures and loot seem to include a fair bit.
Tutorials if enabled walk the player through most of the game mechanics so that can be quite helpful but it's a fairly straightforward action RPG so nothing too out of the usual but it works well and so far it's been quite fun.
Not sure about game length and as mentioned there's some common recurring tropes but storytelling overall has a tendency to rely on certain recurring elements so that's nothing too unusual.
And as per usual characters tend to go all out during flashy cutscenes and might not be quite as extreme when you actually have them in your control ha ha.
Not bad, throw the save stuff out as some weird DRM thing and the game would be a easy recommend for anyone liking the genre but as it is that's going to be a unknown maybe not short term but certainly long term.
EDIT: Whoa there Imgur easy on the image enhancements, well it's better than Flicker was at least.
Thank you for the mini review JBeckman! I'm a sucker for wuxia settings so shitty DRM or not i will probably give it a go after i finish Fallen Order (and it definitely helps that it's also just 3€ bucks on the Uncle Diego store )
Yeah the Tale of Wuxia games seen on RPG Codex and the numerous threads on Meta Council and before that Reset Era on the increase on Chinese developed PC titles on Steam and also higher profile or bigger budget development projects was what sparked my interest and a interest in the historical and mythological though primarily via Western sources and various so-so movies or literature so I can't claim to understand it entirely or very well at all I suppose.
Wuxia as a genre seems to hold a lot of potential though for the Chinese games the bigger hurdle is the localization and how said translation if one exist at all is handled.
The aforementioned Tale of Wuxia games turns into a humorous parody which while hilarious to read from onlooking perspective and checking the screens and info it probably wouldn't be the same to actually play it plus the non-story bits are often just Google translated or incorrect which just breaks it entirely.
This in comparison is mostly just lacking from being a bit too stiff or wooden with expressions and meanings particularly for the menus and hints and such being very literal though it's still almost always easy enough to understand the intent or meaning and the script itself seems solid plus the localization effort covers for cutscenes and minor characters even if the audio is still only in Chinese though the game is also fully voice acted which is quite impressive because they do use a number of cutscenes and a lot of dialogue and exposition.
Plot wise you get the usual staples for these tales with mythical swords, dragons, spiritual beings and mysticism and daemons and balance plus a ton of martial arts mostly focused on armed combat though while your character is quite a powerhouse it's also not going fully Dynasty Warriors or anything though many a demon will be slain though these can put up a fight.
Anything else I'm forgetting well probably nothing too much as I am still very early into the game myself and it's just really getting started properly but I am quite impressed so far and the only major drawback is the save game handling since that can be a factor and there is no way around server downtime or anything like that though if a local mode is made for a cracked version then it's no longer a factor.
Oh and props for minor touches like characters looking at your avatar as you walk around and a effort to make the areas with NPC's feel alive and populated from diverse animals and various props and some interior areas there's also good variety to character models and their banter even if they're not 24/7 actively doing schedule stuff or AI routines but it's a nice touch.
(Old people, young people even kids and there's also fat people of various social standing and how these dress and act a bit in their dialog as you pass through the areas or the ones you do talk to in full.)
Hmm what would it compare to probably more akin to Bioware's Jade Empire or KOTOR maybe not quite but similarities though probably sweeping comparisons and with several differences.
The earlier RPG design I suppose but with modern tech and improvements this can allow for in terms of scope and scale and visual fidelity and such.
Bit linear in how you progress but also more focused as a result instead of doing something with another open world design and running back and forth doing minor errands or just getting lost exploring or something to that effect.
EDIT: That and the very positive reception for this particular game on Meta Council and also Steam for the English reviews and forum topics though there is some criticism as well and a language choice at start would alleviate some confusion on how to switch it in the game itself at first.
Wow this game is epic like a JRPG with DMC combat is still on sale until Dec 3 is worth the money like 20 bucks had no problems with the Drm and saving. Is a bit slow the first hours like all JRpg games but stick with it.
IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE CHINA, MAKE SURE TO DO THE FIRST LAUNCH OF THE GAME ON STEAM LIBRARY AND PICK NORTH AMERICA SERVERS TO AVOID PROBLEMS WITH THE POOPY DRM. You can't transfer saves between servers.
Finished it. I'm a fan now. Aside from the hiccups owing to the always-online DRM (couldn't play on China weekend prime time due to using east asia servers. Yay great firewall!) it was an enjoyable ride all the way to the end. Here's hoping we'll get the fourth game in the series in English too. Review updated below.
What's this, can you pick a NA server? Or is the drm always on with China?
got it yesterday, its less than 2$ at diego; little bit clunky with k+m but you get used to it
Plays pretty well with a game pad i tried it a bit last month but i was not really in the mood for a game like that back then might give it another go soon it certainly looked pretty fun.
After 15h in it, got bored of it; it starts very interesting but at some point the story just goes sideways with a lot of crap that is not really related and loses focus. I did not had a problems with the online crap drm (you can qs anytime anyway) but another fucked up thing, you cant change the resolution if you want to play in fullscreen. Also in cities the RAM consumption is insane, from 3-4 GB in normal maps, goes to 8-9 GB lol.
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
