Unravel 2, A Way Out, Tiny Brains, PixelJunk Shooter, Resident Evil Revelations 2, Trine 2, Resogun, Child of Light, Viking Wolves of Midgard(Diablo style game), Nex Machina, Alienation, Dead Nation, Divinity: Original Sin 1 & 2(well maybe not for newbies ), Guacamelee: Super Turbo Edition, Lara Croft: The Temple Of Osiris, Never Alone, Rayman Legends, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, Helldivers, Rocket League.
I've included some games that probably won't suite you both, but hey I can't know .
I've been looking for local co-op but yeah, the current gen consoles don't really cater for local co-op anymore.
Diablo III is quite fun - was on sale for $20 for the full pack two weeks ago
Overcooked can be fun but it can also result in your strangling each-other - it's a game where you need to really co-ordinate what you're doing.
Rocket League is pretty good too in co-op but takes a while to get good at.
If you're expecting AAA games to support local co-op ... I don't know many at all. Plenty of indie games but most can be played on PC for a lot less. Steam Link anyone?
