TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."

One of the coolest animes out there. That style cannot be reproduced.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
Cho isn't limber or jazzy enough to be spike.
Haven't seen him in anything that shows he can pull off cool and intentionally ditzy at the same time. Not even a hint of it. And chick playing Faye isn't hot, or has any charisma. Jet black is just black Rambo, a blambo. And why is vicious white and not Asian like Cho?
And Cho isn't Japanese. So they fucked that up. Could have cast a good Japanese actor for the role. And a blapanese actor for jet black and a light skinned blasian for faye.
Ouch! Cho sustained a knee injury and production will halt for 7-9 months for him to have surgery and heal.
Quote:
Sources describe the injury as a freak accident that happened on the last take of a routine and well-rehearsed scene. It requires surgery, for which Cho has been flown back to Los Angeles, and an extensive rehabilitation. The production shutdown is expected to last between 7 and 9 months. The new filming schedule will be set once Cho’s prognosis is clear.
Cowboy Bebop, a live-action adaptation of the cult Japanese animated series, was a few episodes into production on its 10-episode order when the accident happened.

I wouldn’t even need a sequel. This is just last century jazz & sci-fi and I love it for what it is. Just create new stuff.

No. The only thing Carole Tuesday has in common with Cowboy Bebop is supervising director Watanabe and some of the production team.
Yes it is although I use the term sequel very very very loosely (more like spiritual sequel). It's set in the same world/setting (Alba city) and there are many subtle hints implying it.
bad casting and generally horrible idea of even making this show aside, atleast they went pretty 1:1 with the intro, cant say my nostalgia balls weren't tickled.

"Ngl the casting choice for Ein is spot on. Really nailed that one."
I think Shakir looks the part for Jet. he's got the 'look' as far as features.
Judging the the pic I assumed the last guy (Alex Hassell) was Spike. He looks [features wise] more like him that Cho, of course the accent and demeanor would be all wrong. Not great by any means, just I assumed because it was at least closer than Cho for surface looks. Now Hassell would be a good Lupin the 3rd. He looks a LOT like him to me.
I suppose Spike is 'japanese-ish' by assumption. But he's martian technically...so dont think it needs a japanese actor. Like it's said he represents the essence of an 'old japanese man's mentality', but never what his race was exactly (as far as I know). I always thought he was an anime 'generic fuzzy black haired 20 something white guy' look for his character.
I think casting of Ed will be the biggest controversial thing. As everyone has a different idea of what Ed 'is'. Not gender but what a real life Ed would be without it being 'wrong'. As the range of how 'absurd' they make the character look and act to fit will be a fine line for everyone. No matter what they do, some people will think its not 'Ed enough' and others saying its a bad over the top parody of Ed since live action would make the caricature that Ed is more...clownish? Not sure the right word..cartoon silly/quirky to live action silly/quirky is always hard to do without critics.
Bebop was one of the few series animes I really like. Not too convoluted of a plot, or overly sentimental plot hooks.
I think @couleur put it better than I could (I would 'over word it...'): This is just last century jazz & sci-fi and I love it for what it is.

Its nothing like the anime and John Cho looks constipated and depressed, nothing like his easy-going troll version in the anime.
He looks like he could be Spikes depressed father.
Yes the presentation was nice but the actors? Ya awwwn. Now way I‘m going to watch this. Gonna rewatch the original instead.

That is fucking sexy as all hell.
The amount of pre pro that went into this. My god.
Entire execution in and of itself deserves a fucking Oscar for VFX/design/editing.
It is so simple and yet executed so nicely and smoothly. Holy shit.
If they manage to keep an engagement like this for at least 20 min per episode I will be a giddy boy.
Lemme tell you this... People will be replicating this style for a good minute and I'm here for all the ones that are done as good if not better. This shit was fucking sexy.
Eh why am I lying, I'll watch the bad ones too. Fucking psyched for what this show will deliver visually.
Actors suck dick tho. Cho is nice. Black guy is nice. The chick seems to far up her own ass and has enough chill to keep Netflix employees sit at their desks.
Ein was in the intro so yea, about Ed, I really dont know how they will incorporate her in the show, it can only work in anime.
But then again, it doesnt seem like they have a clue about what works only in anime and what doesnt, judging from the stuff shown so far
but i have to watch it, this is the closest to a 1:1 anime -> US movie/series conversion ever.
which isnt really a good thing, because anime pacing and rhythm works only for anime and looks very off in anything else.
I think they would have been better off making new content, kinda like the movie, put in the middle of the original series. 1:1 will only show how much better the anime is, imo.
