s2 out, ep 6 is so fucking crazy and with all the fucking big actors they brought in lol, after the big success from first season seems everyone wants in
s3 is big disappointment and it shows in the reviews....the directing and acting is still top notch but they slowed it down....which felt like a big filler season, still had its moments but not enough. too bad, after so many award winns people were really hungry for another excelent season
I wasn't sure I'd enjoy The Be(a)rzatto given the subject matter and its exploited nature that doesn't lend itself to meaningful character development, but the show was a pleasant surprise in that regard. It's still (mostly) about delivering a slick stylish presentation, however, keeping the focus on the people first and foremost was a key factor to give the story necessary depth. The believable acting and frequent close-ups complemented the pseudo-drama nicely like a modern variant of the classic Tenso meme
The editing is almost impeccable and more often than not genuinely anxiety-inducing, such as the entire episode seven with its long one-shot build-up, followed by a C(h)arming finale. S02 expands upon the first one by adding more characters' backgrounds, surrounded by all the cameos and culminating with yet another hyper-hectic ending with a twist in store. The OST is fitting too with its mix of ambience and good ol' 80s-90s music.
As for S03, indeed it struggled to hit the same high notes as the previous two seasons unfortunately - which doesn't mean it's bad, just not as interesting or as engrossing as it should have been. It loses focus way too often with limp sequences, artsy farts-y bits and some silly ones/Fak brothers-isms till the TO BE CONTINUED cliffhanger. Here's hoping S04 won't go downhill because that would be a shame, wouldn't it? [Yes Jeff!]
