I think there is a version of Dune 2, where you can group units. at least you can drag your mouse around and select more units at once. Ofc. i don't recall the version, but i believe i have it at home. I'll check when i get home.

I liked them all, i just cant remember them well enough to remember which was the best. Man i wish a new one or even a Starcraft dune mod would come out.
I`d say the old Amiga Dune (Adventure/RTS hybrid with a great Soundtrack) and Emperor:Battle for Dune are the "best" ones.Dune 2 & Dune2k are enjoyable too but the specials certain units can pull off in Emperor make it the better game IMO IMO
If you want to play Emperor, stay away from the german version.Couldn`t figure out to get that to work, swapped to US and no problems at all

- adventure, reliving the book in a way - Dune 1
- strategy, kicking atreides/harkonnen/ordos ass one tank at a time - Dune 2 or Emperor, or even Dune 2000.
Dune II all the way. I remember playing Dune I after II cause i loved it so mush
"Oh Paul your eyes are so blue" - Dont know why i still remember that line.
I played the shit out of the first Dune game on Amiga, was only a kid so had never read the book etc, but still loved it. The exploration stuff even if it was pretty linear, was great I thought, heading off with your buddy trying to spot new places to mine.
Dune II was also amazing in its own way. Someone will probably correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't this the founder of all the amazing Westwood RTS games on the early Pentium PC's, and pretty much a blueprint for every RTS since?

YES, Dune 2 was the base for all coming RTS games.
But i think Command & Conquer 1 was the game that finally made RTS games popular
