EmuParadise has removed its entire library of retro game ROMs and ISOs

For nearly two decades, EmuParadise has been the go-to place for quite a number of people in the emulation community. This is due to the site’s vast collection of ROMs and ISOs from many systems, dating all the way back from the Atari and NES eras, straight up to the Wii and PSP. But, things are different now.

The site’s creator recently put out an announcement on a website, titled “EmuParadise is Changing”. This announcement contained an explanation — the site will no longer host any games. Here’s an excerpt:

“It’s not worth it for us to risk potentially disastrous consequences. I cannot in good conscience risk the futures of our team members who have contributed to the site through the years. We run EmuParadise for the love of retro games and for you to be able to revisit those good times. Unfortunately, it’s not possible right now to do so in a way that makes everyone happy and keeps us out of trouble . . . . . You won’t be able to get your games from here for now. Where we go with this is up to us and up to you.”

At least I have all NES SNES GB/GBA games on my server.

SAD

Sad

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Good thing I got romsets archived, but this fucking blows.
EmuParadise was my go-to place for abandonware and ScummVM games, you'd easily find all versions on every platform.. Fuck Nintendo who only want to sell their Virtual Console for Switch bullshit with not even a tenth of their library. They kill sites like this but provide no viable alternative.

Nintendo have always been cunts. The problem isn't that they kill roms but that they offer no affordable, reasonable alternative. They charge ridiculous prices for 30 year old games, barely release a tiny fraction of the full catalogues, and you can't even port over the games you own between consoles. Basically, they want you to buy the same overpriced handful of games over and over.

For Nintendo, there are tons of full archives to download except perhaps for the GC, Wii & Wii U where you can easily still find the games one by one. For the other consoles that had their roms and ISOs removed, it's a much sadder affair. EmuParadise had the best Playstation 1 library that I know.

Dumb move. Should have just removed the Nintendo stuff and keep the rest of the library
No need for roms recently but been often using the site in the past, so quite a loss. Maybe it's really just "for now" and the files come back eventually.

I was about to say the good ol' TheIsozone but they removed their links too today. Thankfully though they have an alternative backup site already functioning

Fuck Evil or Very Mad Good thing I spent the past years collecting roms and isos for most consoles. The thing is - even if you own the games, these sites make it so much easier to play them emulated (read: with modern controllers at high resolutions).
