It looks as though Watch Dogs 3 is in development. A series of clues posted over the past few weeks point to a third instalment in Ubisoft’s cyberpunk franchise.
Two of those clues are fairly innocuous. The first was Ubisoft’s April Fool’s joke, which allowed players to ‘hack’ into the company’s UPlay client. That in itself is pretty innocent, but anything Ubisoft release with even the faintest hacking angle brings up immediate connotations with the franchise. The second clue came a few days later, as the Watch Dogs 2 Twitter account posted, and then deleted, a tweet reading “This is Everything.” That’s a tie-in to Watch Dogs’ motto, which states that “Everything is Connected.”
The most obvious clue, however, stems from Ubisoft’s very own gaming assistant, Sam. Sam, which is currently only available in Canada, is a gaming-centric version of digital assistants like Apple’s Siri or Amazon’s Alexa, and offers stat-tracking and tips to players. However, you can also ask Sam about release dates and easter eggs.
According to this video from UbiCentral, if you ask Sam about Watch Dogs 3, it has something very interesting to say: “Watch Dogs 3 is not finished yet, but from the last early build I tried it’s very solid. The Dev team works wonders! Can’t wait for you to try it!” Sam is still in beta, and Ubisoft have of course not confirmed Watch Dogs 3 publicly, but their own digital companion states that it’s in development. I’d expect to see something of it later this summer, likely at E3.
WD2 did a good job in adding more activities around the world, compared to WD1 which felt barren. The "trendy" and "hip" cast of main characters wasn't interesting, but they seemed to make fun of themselves and of the clichés that they were representing, which made them at least tolerable. If they could improve on the activities, and dial back the tone to be somewhere between WD1 ("I'm gloomy and tortured") and WD2 ("My mom says I'm very cool"), they might be able to continue improving the series.
Sin317-"im 31 years old and still surprised at how much shit comes out of my ass actually ..."
SteamDRM-"Call of Duty is the symbol of the true perfection in every aspect. Call of Duty games are like Mozart's/Beethoven's symphonies"
deadpoetic-"are you new to the cyberspace?"

Precisely, it's positive that some of the criticisms were addressed and the gameplay was made more varied and dynamic a là grand cyber-trolling simulator (I ended up not disliking WD2, against all odds ), but there is no denying that the general tone and all the m1ll3ni4l1sms were a bit too much even for something that didn't mean to take itself seriously. They really went from one extreme to the other, the sweet spot for an ideal sequel would be somewhere in the middle whilst still improving the gameplay elements, just like you said. Things would get really critical if they took the current direction and brought it to the next level of 1337eness
Gameplay-wise it would help if a robust physics engine was implemented, the sense of chaos and both the (so-so) driving and shooting/feedback would all benefit immensely from that, though I'm not expecting much for the obvious Ubireasons. Still, at least there isn't complete indifference and am curious to see which breeds of dogs we'll get this time around.
After what they did with the sequel, no thank you. That wasn't cyber-punk, it was cyber-hipster bullshit.

Because the original was so good?
I wouldn't say it was good - but it was a hell of a lot more palatable than the second, despite the fact that they expanded the scope of the sequel.

Bring back a depth of seriousness, get rid of the hipster bullshit. Make it relevant to today with the current wave of cybercrime and cyber terrorism.. be a government agent or something. Or even a terrorist leader.. I dunno. Anything to get away from the ridiculous notion of 3D-printing everything.

Should be confirmed already both from the lead writer and the patch for Watch_Dogs 2 which expanded the ending but it's good to see it still on course for painting a big old dick on Big Ben in the name of activism-hacking.
Bit small compared to San Fran Bridge but more phallic this time.
(Well I think it was more the Dead Sec skull thing but plenty of weird and strange things in that second game.)
EDIT: Well there's probably more robot abuse too.
"I can let you do that dave."
Well who knows, doubtful but it might even have a more serious mood again whereas the second game had some pretty strong content at times but was mostly humorous and whimsical about most of the things you and the crew encountered, few downers but many upbeat fun and games and bouncing right back even when things get more tough for the crew.

A shit game or film isn't automatically good because it's made to be shit. Shit is still shit no matter how you twist and turn it.
I played WD2 a few months ago and enjoyed it a lot.
Wasn't perfect, I didn't really like the shooting mechanics. But had lots of fun with the gadgets and calling cops/gangsters on people, I hardly used the guns anyway.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
Yea for some reason I always enjoyed both the Watch_Dogs games a ton, very nice graphically, interesting world and story, good gameplay, wonky ass driving and fake as hell hacking mechanics that made for uniquely entertaining open world games - you know, the same way Saint's Row is a lot of fun even if its miles less qualitative than GTA.
Could be in part that there are only so many open world/city shooty drivy kind-of-games even though it's a great genre.
Guess the technical issues with Watch_Dogs 1 on launch started the franchise off with a bitter taste - add some of that UbiShit image and it's not making for a great reputation.
Plus they walked a fine line between super cringy edginess and ironic millennial'ness on the characters in the second one - most people simply found it cringy.
But I always found it hard to feel like something is cringe if it's on purpose and self-deprecating.
