An infinitely replayable series of quests - earn new cards, build your deck, then try to defeat it!
In a cabin at the end of the world, the game of life and death is played. Draw your cards, play your hand, and discover your fate. Hand of Fate is a hybrid roguelike/action-RPG/deck builder, in which the player builds a set of cards into a deck, which is then used to deal out the dungeon floors through which they adventure. Upon entering a combat, all of the cards the player has collected fly into their hands as fully modeled 3D assets, and combat begins.
Build your deck, enter the world of Hand of Fate, and prepare to face the Ace of Skulls.

Defiant Developments has revealed that its successful Kickstarter project’ Hand of Fate will hit Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in January, next year.
The developers wrote on the game’s steam page:
The feedback we have received from gamers playing on Steam Early Access has surpassed our wildest dreams. We are working furiously to deliver the finished game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC owners
The successful Kickstarter card and RPG game, Hand of Fate, has finally received a released date from Defiant Entertainment. The game will be available on February 17th, 2015 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
Harkening back to classic rogue-like games, Hand of Fate combines RPG elements with dungeon crawling action to create a unique experience. Players are dealt a hand that determines the next set of challenges that await the player, along with random encounters and power-ups that will help the traveler survive his journey.
Will I be able to play as a mage later on? I'm not a fan of playing as a wannabe hero peasant armed with a shield and a sword
PS I've played it for half an hour and I don't get all the hype..
- cards gameplay wise MTG is miles ahead of this
- fighting\exploring is primitive," levels" are boring
- it's a generic fantasy unlike ,say, darkest dungeon and graphics are rough.
- unity
-loading times could be better all things considered tbh
the idea is nice but the game could have been so much more than this..
It's a brilliant, wonderful creation, I isodemoed it for a while and then bought it. I was lucky to get it on Humble Shop for just ten euro.
It's true that the fighting system is not top notch, but on the other hand, I did not find any major flaws with it.
The game is very atmospheric, writing is superb, and the fortune teller setting with just the right mystery vibe is what makes the game strong. It resembles the 19th century occultism in contrast with the stock Tolkienish fantasy that I am quite fed up with.
Moreover, there is no stupid grinding for levels and skills. The levels are randomised, and the gameplay does not feel repetitive (although it definitely is).
BTW if you die, you are mocked a bit by the dealer, got to keep all the token cards you won in that round, and start the level again with the opportunity to rebuild your deck. The dealer actually comments this, wondering if there is a way to truly lose the game instead of just replaying a round.
Played this almost all day today. Holy shit are the last 2 "boards" fucking BRUTAL. They stack the deck against you so bad with curses/filler weapons it's infuriating. Then again, the Early Access builds were pretty much that brutal from beginning to end.
Still have yet to beat the final board, as well as unlock some card tokens, but I'm absolutely delighted with having bought this.
Wonderful ambiance in terms of writing / card art / voice-work. And although it does lose some of its magic once you've figured out all the cards and their rewards/repercussions, it still manages to make you want to keep playing even if you've died for the tenth time trying to get to the end.
Also, there's apparently some ENDLESS mode which I have yet to delve into. Had to take a break so as to not rage.

Had steered away from the thread thinking that this was a card game, I couldn't be more wrong. Cards are just an accessory, this is a role playing game (casual-ish, but still).
I agree with you guys, it is indeed addictive, and I quite like the combat too, with its Arkham vibes and some roughness, but works well. The voice acting is spot-on really. I fear that variety could be an issue in the long run though (for me at least, I dislike repetitive tasks in general).
I'm just halfway through the "story mode",however, it already seems kinda repetitive.. I mean encounters, traps, fighting locations..The challenge is still there, of course, and it got harder but....
anyway if anyone here is on my steam friend list and you've seen me starting the game over and over again that's just me alt+f4ing everytime i fail that god damn devil's carnival

You think that one's bad? Try succeeding in the Royal Treasury card. Something REALLY bad happens if you fail.

Yea seems odd to compare this to mtg. Combat is average but the rest is very well designed/programmed. Good ambiance, fun and fresh. The last time I was this addicted to a game is Monster Hunter 3
That Devil Carnaval card is a **** to unlock. Btw the card shuffling at fail/succes event isnt random. If you are fast enough you can follow some cards and highly increase your succes chance.

Yup, some are easier than others. There is also a blessing you can get which allows you a "second chance" if you pick wrong.
I highly recommend NOT having the deck auto-managed. I took that carnival card right the fuck out the first chance I got! Make some notes about what works well for your playstyle and then mix and match your deck to meet the requirements without picking only horrible encounters and low-grade equipment.
