It took me 41 hours to finish the story. I ended up at Level 37 of 50. I listened to most dialogues but skipped some (especially in side quests). You have to do a lot of side quests to level up. There are huge level gaps between some story quests and side quests are the only good way to get XP. Besides, they also reveal locations to new Cultists so you have to do them anyway.
If you listen to all dialogues it’s easily 50 hours+. If you skip everything then you can maybe rush it in 30 hours. In those 41 hours I also uncovered the entire map and that alone took 5-6 hours!
You need roughly 1 hour per level-up (4-6 Quests). The quests scale with your character level and so do the enemies and areas. The game is absolutely massive and 100% completion will take 100 hours+. Getting to Level 50 will take around 50 hours without XP Boosters (which can be purchased with Helix Credits through microtransactions).
I didn’t have any XP Boosters and was constantly underleveled. So you can’t just rush through it, doing side activities is absolutely required to be in shape for the next story quest. Dialogue and Gameplay are evenly split, meaning half the time goes into talking with NPCs and the other half is doing their quests.
There are 9 Story Sequences in total. It’s worth noting that the game doesn’t stop there. There is a lot of endgame content such as world bosses and an arena. There are also lots of other chapters / story branches that are not necessarily needed for the main storyline but still count as their own chapters and can be done post-story. One of the most sumptuous singleplayer games in recent years!
I don't get why anyone would want to skip all dialogue on a game. It's like they're in a rush to stop playing it when it's meant to be enjoyed.
I know. I've got a friend who said to me yesterday he expects me to let him know what the storyline is like in RDR2 because he intends just to power through it.
It seems to have had terrific reviews..but no way im gonna dive into this with RDR2 a few weeks away - for me, this is one to pick up in a few months time for half price and with a few patches on it.

Yup. Clearly a wait for sale. I think RDR2 is gonna impact on the sales for this game quite a bit..
I wanted to love Origins so much (mainly because the Egypt setting) but the gameplay and combat is so stinking bad i just can't play the game.
Shame for me since Odyssey also looks nice but the combat again looks bad, i wish there was a demo...
25 hours in and really enjoying this one. It looks that great I’ve even been using photomode and I never use photomode in games! There’s so much to do and see but for the moment I’m sticking to the story which is pretty enticing. The busywork may come after and my god there is a lot of it!

Just tried it thx to a friends, luckily i didn't buy it.
It sucks.
Gameplay is boring, game is boring, main quest is boring, main character (the male at least) has no charisma.
The game begins like AC3, where you start playing with a guy with charisma and skills, then after the prologue, you are playing some level 1 noob.
I know it's the same in AC Origins, but I never understood this semi RPG gameplay in Assassins Creed.
Also the "choices" you have are a joke, make no mistake, it's no Detroit.
Also the game runs sub par 30 fps on PS4 Pro, what is funny is when you start playing Shadow of the Tomb raider right after, the 60 fps feel like you are playing in fast forward since AC is so slooooooooooow.
Big disappointment because the lore seemed more interesting than ancient Egypt.
I wanted to like it, but after 1h it's a no-no.
And I don't want to play more than 1h to like a AC game (the previous ones before Origins were already putting you in the mood at the first minute).
