Do they use SVP to upscale the fps "live" and at the same time record the screen via Shadowplay or OBS?
OR...
is there a way to directly convert a video with upscaling, preferably using freeware tools?
"There will be no end to the troubles of humanity, until philosophers become kings, or kings become philosophers.", Plato.

"The hyperbole, the demonization of the other opinion and the unwillingness to even read the opposing opinion destroys the so important political discussions necessary for the well functioning of society.", Couleur
I notice slight CPU increase while playing the video. I thought you needed software for this, but apparently it's embedded in the video? It is an interesting technology for sure!
Neat, but I don't get the obsession with this show, one of the most overrated anime of all time. Heck, even the past lacklustre decade has had plenty better shows.
Last time I tested it, SVP was not as good at this. Especially since anime is mean to interpolate, since not all animation is done at movie frame rate. So quality could be a reason. Maybe SVP got better though.
But maybe its just my tiny laptop screen here and on my monitor at home I'd dismiss it like any other frame interpolation.
I did use it before to convert small chunks of 3D video so it can be easier to the eye, and it did work. Problem is, I did fuck up the audio, so I guess you need to read a little bit more about codec sync.
I do find minterpolate better for that footage, better flow even if it has some noticeable artifacts. Butterflow seems a little bit hit and miss, sometimes original framerate sometimes optimized... dunno.
