How do they do this?

I mean the upscaling to 60fps "offline".

Do they use SVP to upscale the fps "live" and at the same time record the screen via Shadowplay or OBS?

OR...

is there a way to directly convert a video with upscaling, preferably using freeware tools?

I notice slight CPU increase while playing the video. I thought you needed software for this, but apparently it's embedded in the video? It is an interesting technology for sure!

Why if SVP can do it in realtime?

Neat, but I don't get the obsession with this show, one of the most overrated anime of all time. Heck, even the past lacklustre decade has had plenty better shows.

Probably the most hype causing scene from any anime ever.

Definitely see some artifacting here and there though. The video Pax linked seems to have much smoother animation and very little artifacting?

Last time I tested it, SVP was not as good at this. Especially since anime is mean to interpolate, since not all animation is done at movie frame rate. So quality could be a reason. Maybe SVP got better though.

But maybe its just my tiny laptop screen here and on my monitor at home I'd dismiss it like any other frame interpolation. Razz

My bad, I thought it was an 24 FPS video that played as 60 FPS on client side only, due to whatever magic applied Very Happy

Yes, the magic was pre-computed, so to speak. That was my original question how it was done exactly.

I don't think you understand your own question or can comprehend the matter at hand, sorry.

My guess: http://www.spirton.com/interframe/

I did use it before to convert small chunks of 3D video so it can be easier to the eye, and it did work. Problem is, I did fuck up the audio, so I guess you need to read a little bit more about codec sync.

I do find minterpolate better for that footage, better flow even if it has some noticeable artifacts. Butterflow seems a little bit hit and miss, sometimes original framerate sometimes optimized... dunno.

And you're welcome pax Smile
