This is the original alien invasion story. Staring Eleanor Tomlinson, Rafe Spall and Robert Caryle, this tense and thrilling drama follows a young couple’s race for survival against escalating terror of an alien enemy beyond their comprehension.
djees ... bbc doesnt have budget for the sci fi needed for such a story and will use cheapass blurred foggy cgi scenes, just sux there wasnt a trilogy in it with the tom cruise version
u know the funniest thing, most of this cgi probably still inspired by the half-life 2 scenes ... from 15 years ago

Well, the mini-series was was originally meant to air around xmas 2018. The delay until this fall seem to have been spent doing all the special effects.
Quote:
The airing comes after a long delay for the miniseries, which shot in mid-2018 and was originally expected to air that festive season.
RadioTimes.com understands the delay may have been due to issues with the special effects work required on the drama, and that with more time the work has now been completed.
The War of the Worlds (North American premiere, season one)
Sundays at 10 p.m. ET/PT, starting October 6
This long-awaited three-part drama has been generating massive buzz since the BBC first announced its commission. Based on H.G. Wells’ seminal tale and set in Edwardian England, the story follows a terrifying alien invasion where people must fight for their lives against an enemy beyond their comprehension. Directed by the award-winning Craig Viveiros, the series stars Rafe Spall, Eleanor Tomlinson, Rupert Graves and Robert Carlyle.
Thanks. It seems like we'll have a busy fall. That's what sucks with summer; movies and tv-series are mostly on hold and the fall season is smack full of new shows, movies and seasons.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

...or inspired by the older comics which included the exact same thing only pre-dating HL2
Seriously, im so happy to see this since I do enjoy BBCs series.
Tom Cruise version was a shitty one.
Edit: The movie from 1953 is one of my all time fav movies
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
Did I saw correctly in ep1 that the main protagonist tells his ho to leave a kid in a rubble and gtfo but in the next scene he stops to save a dog?

Finished episode 2. I have two main gripes about this series.
1. The intermingling of two different timelines. It doesn't add anything. If anything it muddles the story up and is annoying.
2. It's moving at a snails pace. A majority of the shots are 75% longer than they need to be.
The dread of what's going on is missing as well. I read the book when I was a teen way back and while this is periodically the closest version, the pacing is very much off.
Was eagerly awaiting the 3rd part to drop yesterday so i could binge. After noticing its absence it looks like the kiwis showed it in 2 parts, is this correct?

Yes, I was wondering the same. It seems they showed it as two 90 minute episodes instead of three hour long parts (like in Canada).
Broadcast
[...] The War of the Worlds first premiered on T+E in Canada between 6 and 20 October 2019,[11] and was broadcast on TVNZ 1 in New Zealand in two parts between 13 and 20 October 2019.[12]
I wouldn't say it's good, no. Rather crappy actually. Many scenes seem too slow and pointless and the main guy is a total fucking idiot.
Visually it's not bad though, interesting to see people of that time confronted with an alien invasion.
But the whole thing just isn't narrated well.
