Hi all!

I want to buy myself some Christmas present.

Any suggestions on what to get?

I'm considering the Samsung's 49" Monitor, or maybe new mobo/processor/rams...
Any other suggestions?

I'm currently happy with my PC's performance thus maybe the mobo/processor would be a waste. The screen would be nice but I'm worried I might not like the low vertical resolution / maybe some games have serious issues with it.

My current specs are in the sig.

New screen it is I think.

My 'middle' screen broke. I pressed power button and my finger went through the slot, and it (powerbutton) does not react to anything anymore Razz (it's on, but I cannot turn it off + it flickers weirdly when I boot up computer).

Now the question is whether I buy a new monitor for myself and give my ROG swift to my gf and use her monitor as the middle screen (we watch netflix on the middle screen / I browse stuff on it while playing games - the broken one has anyway horrible brightness / colors)

Picking a monitor these days is pretty tough.

Do you go for one of the few HDR monitors available?
Do you go for a 4K (or 3K) monitor?
Do you go for 144Hz?
Do you go for IPS for better image stability?
Do you go for a Gsync/Freesync monitor?

Mine is a 3K Gsync 144Hz monitor which I bought a year and a half ago - not IPS because I didn't find any IPS monitor that got decent reviews. But with the advent of HDR, it becomes even trickier. For me, a higher resolution is important since I do Photoshop stuff but for regular gamers, 1080p may be enough combined with 144Hz and Gsync.

Yea my current one is the 28" Asus rog 2.5k? Gsync monitor. And I really like it. I'm not sure how much the gsync affects and I've been thinking of the 49" Samsung hdr monitor (with very odd resolution and freesync2)

Watch out for those fake-ass or just crappy HDR functions on so many TV's though.

Dell has some new really expensive HDR monitors, but when you start reading about them its some crappy software HDR (requires you to run movies etc in their software). Laughing But yeah at least they can brand them as "HDR", even though i think it's a false claim here.

I'd say on 90% of the HDR stuff is there for marketing purposes only. There are many requirements for HDR to actually come off something really good, and few TV's (an no monitors so far) lives up to it.

On this article there are no asterisks for the Samsung 49" monitor I'm considering.... BUT, it reads Freesync 2 at the HDR row... So I'm confus now. Does it mean, Nvidia cannot into HDR with this monitor?
