A guy I used to be friend with (we kept great relations, he just went abroad years ago) was found dead while surfing in Bali, struck by lightning.
+- 1200 deaths worldwide from what a read. He just got engaged with a beautiful, smart girl.

Give me a hard time as much as you like, but while I'll never ask you for empathy (I know better), have a bit of sympathy and god damn respect for a wonderful guy that was a far better person than the both of us will ever hope to be.

Thanks Nui!

Struck by lightning eh? Too bad that the odds of winning the lottery aren't the same otherwise he might be a millionaire now instead of well...dead. Sad

It might seem cold, but honestly (since we were... "enstranged"?), his death hits me less harder than the fact that the world is a shittier place without him, if that makes sense...
He was a caring, loving person. Everyone that even barely got to know him knew he was the type of person that just spread love and happiness all around.
Everybody loved him. I guess everybody knows someone like that.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words everyone Wink

In that case at least its just the rest of us deserving bastards that will have to suffer, excluding (close) friends and family of course.

Damn Sad R.I.P.

And yes, that is unlucky. About one person a year is killed by lightning here in Norway, and we are 5 mill people. And judging by how many routers iv had the past years id say we have quite a lot of it.

Surfer get's hit by lighting on bali... unlucky bastard... Even if it seems "funny" at first.

R.I.P... He looked to be very stand up dude. Feel really bad for the lady... I know I would have trouble gathering myself if this happened to my fiancee...

It is not funny at all, it is downright shocking.

I'm sorry for your loss HubU, rip good Denis :<
I've had one close call some years back when a lighting fell right in the middle of my garden (hitting a small pine), I was about 7-8 meters away admiring the rainy weather from the porch, pants were shat in multiple layers.

It's incidents like these that show just how pointless life really is. Wrong place, wrong time, totally uncontrollable circumstances and boom, gone. Sad

Serves you right for you trying to admire nature. Get back inside where it's safe! Lesson learned! Very Happy

Damn odds to get struck by lightning are 1/1million and getting struck in ones lifetime is 1/10000 (somewhere there).

Really unlucky Sad
