The German-language Babylon Berlin series has been adapted from a 2008 bestselling thriller by Volker Kutscher.
Set in the glamorous and decadent world of 1920s Berlin, with communists and Nazis clashing on the city’s streets, it follows a young police inspector who investigates a porn ring and uncovers a web of corruption
It is one of six critically acclaimed novels featuring the detective Gereon Rath and was partly inspired by the crime fiction of Raymond Chandler and the hit HBO television series The Sopranos

It takes place when the Nazis are infiltrating German society [and] when the communists are seen as more of a threat than the Nazis; when there’s extreme poverty in Germany, and a generation of men who’ve experienced the first world war have this feeling of national failure.”(c)
The episodes were directed by three directors: Tom Tykwer, Hendrik Handloegten and Achim von Borries. All three wrote the screenplay.
Btw there is no second season. It's just one 16 episodes season
For some reason they've split it into two for foreign markets.
Anyways, I've watched all the episodes ( SD Sno releases on TPB) and I think it was pretty good. The "second season" was considerably better than the first one and I definitely look forward to finding out what they'll have to offer in the next season story-wise.

This music video paints a pretty clear picture of what the show feels like atmosphere-wise.
Just started watching this and I agree it's top notch. I was really surprised by the production values. The only thing that bothers me is that clubs don't look authentic, too much modern lightning. I think Boardwalk Empire did it way better.
@h0rnyfavn It seemed like the one who translated and the one who pieced the subs together weren't the same person. Often sections were stitched together into one line. Lines that didn't have matching dialogue until (sometimes) minutes later.
Just a quick look through S01E01 - 22:41, 23:43, 24:14. Subs disappear before the dialogue is ended. Sorry I can't provide more examples. I already deleted it.
I've checked this episode and indeed at these timestamps subs disappear a bit faster.But just a bit. 2-3 seconds of taking(or just a pause and then some words) without subs and considering that I read them all at once it wasn't a problem for me, that's why I probably didn't pay attention to this.
Do all episodes have this issue? Does it get worse in some episodes in terms of synchronization?
PS I've also checked SD Sno releases (Babylon Berlin - Hardcoded Eng Subs - Sno,@TPB) and they don't have this issue. So, it seems it's trollhd's fault
PPS 720p BaBe releases are the same as trollhd in this regard.
@h0rnyfavn I think it's a Netflix issue. AFAIK TrollHD subs are ripped right from the source. As I recall season 2 was worse, or maybe it's because I started paying more attention to it.

The setting, the cast and acting are still good, but the third season's story seems kinda boring. I read on reddit that it is based on the author's worst book.
