Long story short my trusty LG G3 just decided to shut down for good (and for no reason whatsoever) after two and a half years.
So now i need a new phone (tho it is fun using my 15 yo Sony Ericsson k750i that still works... )

Sooo i need something that will be an upgrade over my old phone. The problem is that i want something that i would use for a while without the need to upgrade in the coming years.., something with a good screen, good battery, best possible hardware per $ and a great camera... and to be cheap lol (that seems out of the question..).

I guess i a m looking at the 'flagships', even tho they are absurdly expensive in Bulgaria (close to almost two of my miserable salaries Rolling Eyes )

soo i am thinking about:

- Galaxy s 7 Edge - 555 $ (with a carrier contract). Overall it looks solid. It has one of the best screens (amoled), good battery life (3600 mAh) and a great camera. It has only 32 gb and 4 ram tho.. As an extra it is water resistant (not that i care). Even tho it is an year old it still holds up hardware wise...

- Galaxy s 8- 674 $ (with a carrier contract). It feels like an updated version of s7 and nothing else. It has 64 gb, weaker 3000 battery, and eh.. that's it i guess. The rest is pretty much a newer hardware and i don't think it is worth it that much.. the design is a bit better, and the camera seems about the same..

- Huawai P 10 plus - 650 $ (with a carrier contract). Now this is something i am really interested in. On paper it looks amazing - 6 gb ram, 128 gb., 3750 mAh battery. It has a double Laika camera which seems brilliant for photos- but still not as good in low light as Samsung's and the video quality is not as good as Samsung's. Also i've read that the sound / call quality is not the best... :/ and the component quality is.. well not the best as well, also even that the battery is bigger it runs dry quicker .. Still... the phone looks very good..

-Lg G6. My last phone was LG and it died for no reason. I won't buy LG even even thought the double camera is listed as one of the best Sad

- Apple - No.

So i would really appreciate some input and help for what to choose. There are a lot of other phones and models (most of witch are cheaper ) that i have not considered оr mentioned - like honor 8 or Moto G5 Plus (which sounds great for a $ friendly phone).. so i would appreciate any help and comments Smile

Just by default i would never go for a Samsung phone.
You pay way too much for their hardware.

Instead i'm throwin in something like the phones by Xiaomi. I bought this one for my mom several weeks ago: http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_620903.html
For that price you get very good hardware and build quality and a huge battery.
I'm even a bit jelly at it, because my Galaxy Note 4 has a much smaller battery and also is not as fluid as that phone anymore.

The problem though is: Xiaomi is not selling worldwide. So you have to import it. And that means in case of warranty the whole process will be complicated.

If that's an issue: I also hear very good things about Huawei and Honor smartphones.

I've heard good things about Huewai though I don't use a very modern phone myself as I primarily just use it for calling so it's old, very old. Razz
(But it has a lengthy battery life. Very Happy )

As for Samsung heard their phones are good but the pricing appears to have gone way up, then again everyone is competing for these chips newer electronics are using (Memory related? Storage in general?) which probably doesn't help but Samsung probably still earns a pretty neat profit from each sale due to just how expensive the two - three newest models are without really changing all that much from what I've read about them.

Not quite that old but I used to have one of these, damn that thing was solid.

Complicated or no warrenty at all?
I would always go for Samsung. All my Samsung Phones are still working.
S4 (4 years old) for example still gets Security Updates. Also Samsung has the best Screens. Always, just like with TV's.
if i look on a new huawei or a nexus 5 from a friend for example they look like shit.
im not talking about the resolution. the colours and all it just looks dull.

Sure samsung install a little bit too much shit on the device but that is no problem if you root your device and uninstall all the crap.

i would get the s7, it's cheap now and still very good.
also i don't like that the home button got removed on the newer devices, still i would never ever buy something else then samsung.
maybe if i would use it once a week or only for calling someone but it's used all day. sometimes more then my pc. so i don't want cheap shit.

I went from G3 to S7 Edge, it's a very big change. Overall the phone is great. I got it for 280 euros though, with a one-year carrier deal and Samsung cashback.

Just bought an Oneplus 5 and if you can see past the 1080p display then you have a serious contender to the S8 for a smaller price - its blazingly fast, pretty, albeit similar design to the iPhone 7, and has quickcharge.

https://oneplus.net/bg/5

The camera is decent, but dont expect lumia nor S8 performance, but it gets the job done.

I got my S8 for $200 canadian monies but that was because of a contract. No fucking way I would ever pay full price it (which is ~$900 or so with tax). I guess I would likely buy a one plus 5 or a moto phone if I were to just buy something outright today.

I also have a nexus 4, 5 and htc one 8 that still work perfectly fine as well! My current contract doesn't expire until May 2018 (2 yr) so this is what I'd have to pay for a new one...

So most of you are in favor of S 7 Edge ?

I can' make up my mind between S7E and the P10 plus.. The difference is about 80 euro..

- The p10+ has 128 gb hdd and the s7e has only 32... That's quite the difference, but still there are sdcards to make more room.
- The p10+ has 6 gb of ram and s7e 'only' 4.. for now it is an overkill to have more than 4 gb.. but who knows how things will go in the future. Still i won't be running millions of apps at the same time...
- The p10+ is a bit faster cpu-wise but i think S7E has better videocard and i doubt i will notice any difference anyway... but still - better is better...
- S7E seems to have one of the best displays available on the market and the battery seems better due to better optimization. Especially the screen quality is a major thing to consider..
- Also S7E has other extras like liquid cooling, water resistance and some VR support that p10 lacks (not that i care.. for now..)

Also i am not sure anymore about the quality of both cameras after watching many comparisons.. single lense vs two.. Sad

edit: i just now found out that none of those phones (aside the US version ot S7E) supports FM Radio - what the actual fuck -.-
