Mighty No. 9 is a Japanese 2D Side-scrolling Action game that takes the best elements from 8 and 16-bit classics that you know and love and transforms them with modern tech, fresh mechanics, and fan input into something fresh and amazing!
You play as Beck, the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by a mysterious computer virus that has caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk. Run, jump, blast, and transform your way through twelve stages using weapons and abilities stolen from your enemies to take down your fellow Mighty Number robots and confront the final evil that threatens the planet!
Every aspect of Mighty No. 9’s development—art, level design, music, programming, etc.—is being handled by veteran Japanese game creators with extensive experience in the genre, all the way up to and including the project’s leader, Keiji Inafune himself!
9 Mighty good reasons to care
Classic 2D Action: Transformed! Face off against your 8 Mighty brethren and unlock new transformations as you defeat them, granting you completely different skills and abilities!
Play through 12 Challenging Stages in a single player campaign that will put both your thumbs and action platforming abilities to the test!
Unlock the New Game+ to add an additional two extra difficulty levels for those who want an even Mightier challenge.
The Single Player Challenge mode with dozens of mini missions will fully test your action platforming skills.
Boss Rush Mode: Play through each of the game‘s bosses, back to back, with a clock ticking to keep track of your best time, so you can share, compare, and show off your skills to your friends and frienemies alike!
Show the world how Mighty you are in the 2 Player Online Race Battle where you compete online, racing through each stage together in a head to head battle - adding an all new twist on versus mode play that will give Mighty No. 9 life well beyond the single-player campaign!
2 Player Online Co-Op Challenge Mode: take on over a dozen missions online with a friend, playing as Beck and his partner, Call! Use Beck and Call’s different powers together in order to defeat these special challenges!
Leaderboards & Rankings: Use Beck's Absorption Dash skill in tandem with his abilities & transformations to chain together combos and perfect your run-throughs to earn those glorious high scores and elusive S-Ranks!
Toggle between regular and 8-bit music: this game is a veritable who’s who of veteran game composers - Manami Matsumae, Takeshi Tateishi, Ippo Yamada, so we thought, why not tap into that retro vibe? As such, Mighty No. 9 features an optional chiptune version of the entire game soundtrack which you can toggle on and off!
Is this game affiliated with Capcom or Mega Man in any way?
No.
Mighty No. 9 is a side-scrolling action game inspired by titles like Mega Man, and it’s being made by many developers who’ve worked on Mega Man games in the past, but it’s 100%, top-to-bottom an all-new property that shares no characters, code, fiction, or anything else besides its genre with Mega Man. So while some of us are ex-employees of Capcom, and all of us are big fans of their games, this project has nothing to do with Capcom or Mega Man.
Shares nothing with Mega Man, just entire visual style of the world, characters and gameplay. Probably has the same theme music as well.
Oh well, but it's on PC, shut up and take my money!
Well this is made by the co-creator of Mega Man, Keiji Inafune, so I guess Capcom doesn't own the trademark or rights to the gameplay itself. Kinda the same way they stole 'Splosion Man for their own game called MaXplosion and later profusely apologised about it. I honestly don't think Capcom is going to go after the creator of one of their beloved series' for making another, similar, title that isn't named Mega Man.
At least now the PC will finally get more M..... ighty No.9 games, since the last one was Mega Man X8 back in 2004.
100% funded less then 2 days, very similar to wasteland 2 so far, hope it will get 3 million
Edit:

I wonder in lets say 15 years... Old Infinity Ward guy does kickstarter video, says that he has formed new game studio and will do another COD, but he wants 15 million for it, he also loves games. Then it uses the same Quake engine what it uses now, gets funded in 1-2 days and everyone is like "AMAGAD SO NICE, LOVE THESE OLD SCHOOL GAMES <3".
Dont get me wrong, but i think its time for some proper PC games, we have played this long time ago and it was called Mega Man. They should just make these for Tablets and shit, would be perfect.
Again, I'm inclined to agree with djaoni. Hey Breezer, here you go mate... good luck with those virtual controls on a finicky platformer such as the Mega Man series
Exception to the rule? There are, of course, going to be some games with awesomely tight controls... but for every one Rayman Jungle Run, there are ten Dark Incursions (and god damn it, that was such a great game too - just destroyed by lousy controls)
Aha, so it's not that platformers are "beyond fucking horrible", it's derpelopers doing bad job at it.
More a case of "most platformers so far are beyond fucking horrible" - endless runners aren't exactly the same thing and, yes, also some developers basically just screwing up. It's fairly rare to get an action platformer that plays and feels nice on the touchscreen.
Some of the "????" stretch goals have been pushed back in exchange for bringing the PS360U ports closer. I think that's fine and, to be honest, I was expecting console ports/versions to be higher on the priority list - Mega Man started its life on consoles, it's only fitting the spiritual successor carries on there too, and at least the PC version is first
2.9M been reached(with Paypal amount) ,my guess it will end up around 3.5-3.8M,it's doing better then Double Fine, but I don't think I will surpassed nigher Eternity or Numenera, though the avarage seems to be one of the most highest in Kickstarter History
And for a moment the game would feature HD Comic Spriting animations...Guess we'll have to deal with 3D wich's ALSO GREAT
Well,2 hours left..let's see what people are up to...but atleast HOORAAAAY FOR PS4,VITA....
.......
.........
And PC
