So, i want to switch the OS of my mediaserver from OMV to Windows Server.
I have a legit key for Server 2012 R2 from my study times.
But i would be more interested in using the latest Server 2016 (non-legit).

Is it possible to activate Server 2016 with for example Microsoft Toolkit?
How much of a hassle is it? Or should i just stick to Server 2012?

I will try it later with the Toolkit. Seems more up-to-date than KMSpico.

And if it doesn't work, i could try first installing Server 2012 with my legit key, and then doing an inplace upgrade to 2016?

Well, i forgot the upgrade from earlier Windows version was only possible for Windows 10. grinhurt
Therefor i had to input another key for Server 2016.

Nonetheless, i just did a clean reinstall of Server 2016 and used Microsoft Toolkit to activate it.
Seems to work fine and it's downloading updates.

My Dualcore with 2,2GHZ is nearly exploding though. Laughing
It wasn't that noticable when i used a mediaserver OS like OpenMediaVault before.
