Takashi Shimizu (creator of Ju-on / The Grudge) is the exec producer.
It will be canon to the universe of the games just like the previous 2 CGI movies. The animation studio is Marza Animation Planet this time.
The movie's characters have been announced to be Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers, the stars of RE0, 1, 2.

perhaps indicating a return to a mansion environment like RE1.

We have the first image released featuring Leon and a Ducati which apparently will be a big part of the product placement in the "action-packed climax scenes".
Leon looks very close to his RE6 appearance.

when the lead characters face designs in your new 2017 cgi film look creepier and more unnatural than your 10 year old games and your old cgi attempts, youve got problems.
that said, didnt see anything particularily amazing in that trailer... all looks pretty.. meh, to be honest. come on, its zombies ffs - it shouldnt be this hard to make something horrifying, thrilling, violent, gory and disturbing...
..maybe if they made an RE film where they pretended they werent actually doing an RE franchise piece of entertainment, that might help..

eh, its a franchise people arent THAT fussed about any more, no one was going to dump a big budget into this or expected it to make lots of money... for what it is and what it was meant to be, i think it looks about as expected.. not unwatchably ugly.
and honestly, im less fussed about the video quality than i am the action/story. The previous 2 RE animated films have been rather poor and nonsensical, so i know i shouldnt hope for anything interesting in this, but.. ugh.. i just.. i just want to believe they can finally manage to make an exciting zombie cgi RE film... it should be possible... right?! its fucking zombies ffs...
if they manage to make it interesting, ill be fine with how... average.. the cgi looks.

Don't know, but to me the CGI quality is rather low.
Looks more like some game engine was used to make the movie, similar to those Machinima videos.

I personally found the CG films to be much better than the travesty live action nonsense. Crap story everywhere but atleast the action in the CG films felt like action unlike the live action trash
Retail copies of the film are set to release on June 20th for the digital versions, followed by DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Blu-ray releases on July 18th. Agree, the only watchable live action movie was the first one. I don't find the lower budget cgi gets in the way either.
