Hi guys,

I wanna track some selected information like changes, status, communication etc. that I want to enter electronically, so I can use the search function later and I also wanna have automatic date tracking.

A simple WordPress blog running on a local XAMMP is perfectly sufficient for this task under normal circumstances.

But... the firewall tool blocks outgoing connections that are common, web, mail, MySQL nothing works, not even when only listening on local host.

It's also a customer provided laptop so I can't change the situation and we don't have admin accounts (no installing software, only portable apps).

My current workaround is... don't laugh... just using a word document as one huge protocol.

However I was wondering whether might be another solution.

I am aware my request is super strange and restrictive, ... any ideas?

If you can't install any new desktop tools then my first suggestion would be to use some online tool... but if it needs to work offline as well, then you're screwed Very Happy
Does the computer at least have OneNote or something like that?

Well if you have office then why don't you use excel instead and write a basic script that would add the current date/time to your new row. You could also have status in there and other neato things.

Pelican python static site generator:
- tons of plugins, tutorials and basic themes.
- write your blog posts in markdown or restructured text.
- can run a local server / stand up the site locally out of the box.
- Or host your site in a static S3 bucket in AWS for less than $1 a month.

Sounds like the insane firewall would just block those attempts

He could setup his xampp with any local port too, so that doesn't seem to be an option, no?

There is no evidence he tried that though. So his solution may work after all Smile

Hmmm, this is interesting Smile

Hmm, but can you search for posts as a user? By date and such? I don't think so?
