I agree that, at least the whole "Americanized" version of the 420 "culture", is pretty stupid. I can't speak for our European brethren, but I'm assuming they handle it in a more mature way. Though maybe not, given your rant. 
That said , I'd like to at least try weed some day. Call it a bucket list item. I feel that it may be the one thing that could mellow me the fuck out for once.
And as a little aside - I had a buddy back in middle school / high school. Came from a very affluent family, very fortunate but at the same time down to earth kinda guy, sharp too.
Around the time high-school rolled around he started smoking weed regularly. He moved away and we lost contact for many years. I spoke to him some years later, and he definitely had that stoner "aura" about him. He wasn't high at the time, but I could definitely tell by his speech and conversation that that shit had kind of slowed him down. Wasn't as quick on the draw as I remember him being.
The whole thing kind of led me to believe that once in a while is OK. Just don't make it too habitual.

It is Ok once in a while but if you get used to it you need more and more. Then the rituals Kick in like smoke only on weekend, then every Day but only on the evening, then also after eating, then also after coming home also and then you already smoke one after waking up and smoke like 15 joints every Day.
Played Fifa all Day and after every 1-2 matches i smoked a Big joint.
Its a drug for a reason. It makes you feel good and you Dont give a Fuck about anything. Its a nice feeling and you want more of course but it Really fucks you up.
Also its very nice for some Sex. Smoked alot with my ex bitch and my endurance got very high when i Smoked before.
Didnt smoked one since last october which was the longest time for me in the Last 10 years. Last week i couldnt help myself and smoked one. It was soooo good after all this time. Cant remember when i was this fucking high. Of course it Didnt end there so the next days i smoked some more until i realized im again in the old habbits. Thank god Quitting was easier then a half year ago but i kinda felt all the negative stuff again, just not so much like back then. Like Cant shit for days, being depressed and eating like a 300kg fatty all Day.
In short, if you smoke every few month on Partys or so Go for it but never ever buy something for yourself. It will not end well

I used to smoke, lots of my friends did (heck even my mom did occasionally)... we never made a big deal out of it like that retarded 420 thing though. Usually when I see Americans or Brits going on about it my stomach turns.
It's the same with Alcohol in Sweden though... glorifying drinking to an idiotic level. We're silly creatures I guess. That whole vaping craze looked exactly the same to me.
I'm fine with people doing drugs, drinking, vaping,... but seriously take it down a notch you're not doing anything grand/special

People just take shit too far, I guess. They find something they like to do and then "OMFG EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW THIS!!!!11". |

I smoke some weed on occasions, and I find it relaxing. I never smoke in public places, I don't know, it feels too invasive, plus I don't really like being high on the street or whatever, it's more of a "cozy night home/with friends" thing I guess.

I smoked alot in the first years when at uni, then realized it held me back from studying and made me antisocial. Stopped buying. Now smoking on occasion when someone has got something, which happens like once or twice a year. I never felt the addiction though. The day I've stopped smoking on a daily basis and went on yearly, it was a simple decision. Unlike nicotine. That stuff is addicting like hell. Stopping cigarettes was way more difficult. I stopped 3 years ago and still think I'm not completely over them.

I TOTALLY agree KC.
If someone does it, good for them. More power to them.
But The whole 420 day "who else is cool like me and wants to make a bond over that we both smoke it" thing is retarded to me.
There is no Happy meth day "Happy meth day bro, shoot it up! You shoot?! I SHOOT TOO! plunge plunge pass my man! Am I right??".
Granted its not the exact same thing, but how I see the whole 'culture' around it. Its a drug, not a lifestyle to share with every stranger to brag about so they know your cool enough to smoke weed.
Potheads that do that come across to me as the vegans of the drug world. If you dont know they smoke, rest assured it will come up as a casual smug brag at some point in the conversation.

The whole 420 thing is very american in itself, but at least it's cool that they don't have to hide or be hypocritical fucks about it like we are in Europe - the "we all smoke, but smoking's still rather bad and should remain illegal, right ?" kind of hypocritical thinking that's very common around here - especially in France.
1st consumers in Europe, but we've one of the harshest stances about it ( even though they never actually enforce it ).

Being high outside in an urban and crowded setting is rarely pleasant, it's rather enjoyable in a "safe" and pleasant environment like a walk in the countryside though

I've met quite a few europeans who think like that, it's so annoying. They basically say "I can use it because I know what I'm doing, but it cannot be legal because other people are not as smart as I am to decide"...

I did shrooms back at the "Wave-Gotik-Treffen" 2002 in Leipzig (half of the city panders to goth/darkwave/other-"alternative"-lifestyle people for a few days) because i was retarded enough to think it would enhance the sound&show of some bands there, worst trip of my life tbh.
Can´t handle unknown people in masses that well while sober or stoned but THIS was unpleasant to say the least.
On Topic: i kinda agree with KC, the whole "420 in your face muthafukka" takes this questionable habbit way too far. It also appears that its weed only nowadays, people get offered hash and ask wtf that is Oo.
We had to hide it from almost everyone "during my days" because of the social stigmata of drugs in general and always had the law in our neck. Even back then, the liberal way it was/is handled in Holland for example was a bit too much for me. To be precise, i couldn´t get warm with the open commercialisation of the whole buying and smoking of weed&hash in places like "Coffeeshop 2000". Other,smaller places i could enjoy because they had this "we don´t bug anyone and just want to enjoy some dope" feeling around them.
In the end i had to stop anyway, everything sativa makes me paranoid as fuck and even the better marroc piece (which i totally fell in love with) i can´t enjoy anymore.

Smoking is cool only in school. Adults smoke because of stress and/or addiction.
Smokers need help man. It's not correct to blame them and isolate them.
