Just as in topic, I am visiting New York City with a couple of friends next month, and since we have some members who live there I'm looking for some recommendations from locals.

I've already been to New York a couple years back, so I did most of the usual tourist things already, visited most museums, took a ride with the staten island ferry around the statue of liberty, visited some roof top bars etc...

So I guess I'm looking for things to do that are fun and a bit off the beaten track. For instance, last time we spent an evening at a small Jazz club, and that was a way more memorable experience than visiting the MoMa. And just hanging out for an afternoon at Washington Square Park was a great recommendation, just taking in the city atmosphere.

I was also thinking about visiting a standup comedy club, so if you have any recommendations there I'd be thankful. Might also try to get into the audience for a Daily Show recording, heard those are free to attend and I watched that show for years now.

Our budget isn't too tight, however we are not looking for any upscale stuff, we'd probably feel right at home with a more relaxed crowd... so Williamsburg currently I guess?

Go eat at the Peking Duck House in Chinatown, it's a dream come true!!! Trust me on this one, you'll be thanking me later.

Also, go to the Blue Note for a jazz concert, take, if possible, a morning+afternoon for the MET, get drunk late afternoon on a rooftop bar, never EVER take a leak in the street at night, go watch blacks play baskets in those little parks and randomly scream "Woo woo woo, dawg!/That's ma shit right here!", eat some soul food in Harlem, bask in the glory of Time Square, yell "I'm rich, liquid and looking for an agressive investment!" in Wall Street, touch the bull's balls, go see Lady Liberty, try to spot really grossly fat americans, drive a yellow cab crazy.

Don't take a picture with dudes dressed as the statue of liberty. In fact, if you spot one, punch them in the dick.

All good fun Smile

Deli food is awesome too. Try them.
And NY pizza deserves (sometimes) it's glory.
I know I'm partial toward the food/drink part, but, IMO, that's part of the experience.

Oh god their Chef sliced duck was heavenly.
I laugh about that just now, since I realize that in the "Billion" serie, the had an actual product placement that actually involved this restaurant Laughing
Giamatti said like "mmh this is an excellent restaurant" or some shit like that, and the ACTUAL OLD CHINESE CHEF was there, believe it or not, the same dude did cut off parts of my duck in that sweet, savoury, steamy tower of goodness, I witnessed.

My taste buds were, at all times, exactly where they should have been: placed, dead set for excellence.

Already visited the Museum of Natural History, was great.

Oh HubU, food is definately on the agenda. New York is heavenly for that. Delis of course (Katzs Deli maybe), some soul food would be great, New York italian restaurants are a must.. and since you recommend that Peking Duck place so highly I'll try to fit it in somewhere. Also love me some Five Guys burgers, and I have to find a good bbq joint too.

Peking Duck House. Don't *fit* it somewhere like it's a dildo. Just go.
Like I said, go there, eat like a king, thank me later.
Honestly, on the last day, I wanted to have the whole course put into a doggy bag, and sneak it back home in my luggage Laughing

Didn't had the time. I would have tried, though, given the opportunity :>

But the lady I was with was like "really? Sure, it was awesome, but you are being retarded right now. We have a plane to catch".
