DRAGON QUEST XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is coming to PS4 and Steam on September 4, 2018, in North America and Europe! Pre-order today
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age tells a captivating tale of a hunted hero and is the long-awaited role-playing game from series creator Yuji Horii, character designer Akira Toriyama, and series composer Koichi Sugiyama. As the eleventh mainline entry in the critically acclaimed series, Dragon Quest XI is a completely standalone experience that features entirely new characters, a beautifully detailed world, finely tuned turn-based combat, and an immersive story that will appeal to longtime fans and franchise newcomers alike. After its release in Japan, DRAGON QUEST XI won multiple gaming awards and received critical praise, including PlayStation’s Platinum Prize and a perfect 40/40 score from Famitsu (Japanese publication).
In addition to delivering over 100 hours of content, the Western release of Dragon Quest XI will also feature several upgrades and enhancements that were not included in the Japanese release, including:
English Voiceover
Draconian Quest, a hard mode that offers additional challenges for more experienced players.
Overhauled Menus & UI, with graphical enhancements and more intuitive navigation.
Camera Mode, allowing players to take in views of the beautiful landscape, character renders and ferocious monsters in detail.
A New Dash Function and many other system enhancements such as improved character and camera movement
I was just yesterday scouring the internets for information about this. I'm still salty that it's another JRPG released long after JP release with plot spoilers all over the place but at least there's a date.

Draconian Quest (cute) sounds great especially given how NNK2 has turned out and folks impressions about the difficulty of the game from the Japanese release. Replaying Dragon Quest 8, and there is definitely a market for old school JRPG design in a modern world.
Dragon Quest XI's western release is adding a lot more than English voice acting.
All of that being said, Square is naturally looking to release the best version of Dragon Quest XI possible when it finally comes to the west on September 4, 2018. So they've put a lot more work than just localizing the massive game into this version.
For starters, the game is fully voiced in English, the original Japanese release didn't feature VO at all. They've also polished up the character and camera controls, as well as adding a first-person camera mode you can use while standing still and adding a dash to help you move through the environment faster. Dragon Quest's hard mode, Draconian Quest has also been made even more difficult in this version.
According to assistant Producer Hikari Kubota during a talk with USGamer, Dragon Quest 11 will be nowhere close to Nier Automata, when it comes to the development and porting:
We’re in close contact with one another on a daily basis, and so everything that the Nier experienced has been shared with our team. I’ve been informed of the struggles that Nier had with deploying some of the updates. Right now we are aware of certain points that we should look for when we do release Dragon Quest XI for Steam.
Coming to the important stuff, Kubota revealed that Dragon Quest 11 on PC won’t be a straight port, as we mentioned before, and will include more features and mods that won’t be present on the console. Also, the game’s native 4K resolution has been confirmed giving us another reason be impatient about its release.
The MIDI soundtrack is horrible, especially annoying when there is a proper orchestral version of every single track.
This is only because asshole Sugiyama wants to get money from concerts.
I can't play it like this, will wait till someone mods the proper soundtrack into the pc version.
Everything about the game seems great except for the music. Can't believe they denied us the proper orchestral music
Yeah and it was said a 1000 times allrdy it's literally on one old fucktard (Sugiyama) because he doesn't want any danger for his precious concert money (+ he hates gaijins) this dick can't retire soon enough and i will personally pirate the damn soundtrack, mod it in the game when it releases and send him the video on Twitter to piss him off.
The characters look like complete twats, the faces look 'unfinished' somehow, sort of like they have failed to gain any proper features. Bloody awful artwork, (and yes I know a lot of people love it), still the game looks like it could be fun.
As I recall it's based on art similar to that of Dragonball which I don't know it doesn't fully transition to 3D from the early NES or SNES originals I guess and other works by the author, Chrono Trigger for example I think was one of these?
(The "Dream Team" but it seems they don't really see eye to eye these days so getting that together again is probably not happening.)
So yeah big rounded features and caricatures for character designs and creatures.
And a lot less nudity when compared to Dragonball or it's source material at least.
EDIT: Which I mean yeah just look at that fucked up fugly baby for example but I suppose it's consistent as everyone looks the same.
(Well I suppose the elderly and the women get a bit more sex appeal but yeah.)
It's tradition, personally i love Toriyama's Style.
1) It's a very iconic style, so you instantly recognize when something was designed by him
2) His style is easy to digest, and is pleasently to see, i never felt that in any of the settings it's used be it a Fantasy world like in Dragon Quest or Dragon Ball with it's aliens, antropomorphic animals, dinosaurs, robots and cyborgs etc, any of his characters felt out of place
3) His style is completely timeless, it doesn't feel like something that came from the 80's.
The only art style in Anime/Manga i love even more is JoJo.
It does stand out and it's recognizable, for 3D though well I guess this is as good as it can be even if there's flaws but then again anime in 3D is going to be hard anyway I suppose (Let alone animating it.) and modern graphics probably makes it even trickier with various shaders and new render techniques becoming popular.
I might not be a huge fan of the art style but it certainly stands on it's own without being generic or having changed into what's popular for the current decade or at least not as significantly as for some other franchises whether gaming or other media.

Toriyamas style is very simple but extremely nostalgic for me, dragon ball, dragon quest, fucking chrono trigger even...
