Earlier today we mentioned Brøderbund's 1989 retro gaming classic of Prince of Persia, which was given an enhanced audio and performance treatment for the Atari STe by Peter Putnik. Well now we are going to go that one step further as it's time to announce the update release of the free open source port update of the MS-DOS version of Prince of Persia, which works perfectly on modern systems with a simple click of an exe file!

There were a TON of cheats for the DOS version of PoP. I remember I was the cool kid in school for a couple of days because I new the commandline and the shortcuts to enable them or something like that. Very Happy

Also, people were saying the source code of the original had been lost forever!

EDIT: Oh, it is some kind of remake that is open sourced, not the original code. Well, if it's 100% faithful then who cares.

I just tested it, this looks like the best classic PoP version ever, it is based on reverse engineering of the original.

Gamepad support, gameplay modding options controllable by settings in the ini, supports modded levels, quicksave/quickload and other stuff

There is a level editor, too
