After going through varying stages of desperation, I figured that the best people to turn to would be you guys. After countless hours/days/months spent looking for a way to use various programs anonymously, I give up.
First of all, I use Windows. I tried Linux (slackware 9.* and Mandrake 10.1, namely). Two attempts, about eight weeks, three keyboards, and 17 stitches to the forehead later, I'm about where I started. I can run Mozilla. I can double click. Mandrake was kind enough to set up my LAN connection for me, so I could surf the web. That's all I could do. I've no fucking clue what anything else does, looking on the web didn't help me. Mandrake was offering a premium version of their operating system for grabs, but I have neither the money nor the patience to BT it for 140 hours, to grab it. It was obvious to me that the best, fastest, and more or less only way for me to grab files, given my less-than-stelar site access (read: none).
So, stuck in above described situation, I decided "what the fuck. I can use Windows... I'll use Windows." Thus, my search for anonymity online began. Two more keyboards and a dozen stitches later, I realized that BNC is a serverside operation, so I turned my one relatively good eye toward shells.
Shells, as it turns out, are only compatible with text-based clients, and seem designed (to my great woe) for Linux. Still clueless about the latter, I managed to find a half-assed way to run a Windows port of BitchX on my PC. That's as far as I got. can somebody please explain to me, in a normal way, how to use shells, and if possible bittorrent clients, anonymously, so that I can exchange "txt files" with "friends" via xdcc?
