Development head John Twiddy, renowned programmer of The Last Ninja, Ikari Warriors, Disney’s Aladdin and the original Constructor, along with legends of the original team, Phil Thornton, Dan Malone and Joe Walker, has begun development of Constructor HD, a reimagining of a classic that inspired games such as The Sims and became one of the biggest games of the ’90s.
Originally launched in 1997, Constructor sold over 5 million copies worldwide, then famously launched on the original PlayStation One which was emulated on PSN as a downloadable PS One classic.
Constructor sets players as budding property tycoons, who must take on their rivals in the creation of a successful city. This doesn’t just involve the speedy building of homes and businesses, however; players must negotiate the tangled web of Undesirables, a motley collection of reprobates that can be used against them – and by them, against others.
The use of Undesirables forms one of the core gameplay mechanics. Whether employing a group of antagonistic Thugs to terrorize a neighbourhood, sending round a Hippy to squat in opponents’ empty properties, bringing in Mr Fix It to botch their gas supplies or involving the criminal underworld in your enterprises, there are many tools at your disposal to help hinder your fellow players and make their commercial lives a living hell. Facing a protection racket from the mob? Why not send along a group of maniacal Clowns to terrify your enemy into submission!
“Constructor is a game I took great joy in creating, and having the chance to delve into its universe once again has been incredible,” said John Twiddy. “A whole generation adored the original. I, along with the original collaborators, am delighted to be showcasing Constructor’s unique charm to a whole new audience.”
Constructor is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, available 31st January 2017, with special pre-order limited edition boxes with selected retail partners.
CONSTRUCTOR HD…IT’S YOUR CITY – DEAL WITH IT!

Constructor always had a reputation of being one TOUGH game! So for Constructor HD we have added a great new Tutorial mode to help the player with the complexities of the game. In addition, there is also a comprehensive in-game manual to aide those brain-fade moments! Plus, we’ve also added a cool LEVEL DESIGNER mode, which enhances many aspects of game-play, especially online/multi-player games. On the audio side, the guys have been busy recording amazing voice overs provided by a PROPER geezer! I’d love to tell you more…but I’d end up in concrete boots if I did!

im so fucking wet and amused, on so many/different levels.
this game is a brilliant master piece, i loved it at the age of 13...
the only problem i recall so far, it's his lack of automation around the end game, making you click/push compulsively faster than any mobile-click game.
Given that I once waited two years for a kitchen repair that still hadn’t arrived by the time I moved out, I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised that the Constructor remake [official site] has been delayed again. Tch, unreliable builders! With their blue jeans. And their tea. Have you noticed they drink all that tea? [Didn’t get that writing gig on My Family, eh? -ed.] Anyway, point is: the silly estate build-o-managing RTS is now scheduled to arrive on April 28th. Assuming developers System 3 aren’t too busy drinking tea and scratching their bottoms, yeah? Ha ha yeah! But they have rummaged up Boycie off Only Fools and Horses to explain the game in a new trailer.
Finally.... We hope to have the PC Steam pre-order page up later next week. The delay was down to many factors including the timing of a playable demo that is planned for March 31 as well as a number of character videos and other assets we will be supplying.
Has anyone downloaded the steam demo and got it to run? won't work for me no matter what i try

The original is still available on DOSBox with a quick search, and again, they REMADE it.
No original content, no new ideas. Just a polished newer version.
I guess they are targeting youngsters that don't know it used to exist before.
But 30$? Fuck you.

The actual issue for playing the STEAM Demo is that W7 users can't play it due to an invisible error (and if ya open the demo's exe the error rebels on ya)
Wich's a big fuck up

Asking 30€ for this is pretty retarded though.
Or they expect that mostly the fans from back then will buy it anyways, so might as well ask for such a price.
