Curious if anyone here uses a dashcam in their vehicle? I've been wanting to get one for some time due to all the crazy shit I see on the roads, would be nice to have some video evidence....

Could anyone recommend one?

@Interinactive

Nice, I was actually looking at this earlier, looks like a great cam for the cost/

If you don't mind I'd like to ask you a few questions before purchasing Smile

- How much video does it actually record, I see they mention a 32gb sd card.

- Does it have any sort of battery, or does it always need to be plugged in?

- How is the mounting process? Can I set it up behind the mirror for less obstruction?

Where I live, using a dashcam in public is illegal. So I'd look that up first if I were you (if you have not already done that).

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

@Interinactive

Thanks for the reply, I think I might just opt for a 32gb card and record @ 720@30fps to save space. Sounds awesome.

@couleur

Oh man, didn't even think of that. Just checked and it looks like it is perfectly legal in New Jersey. Thanks for pointing that out.

Occasionally I just use my GoPro with a suction pad mount, cause basically it's a dashcam with a lot of other options. So if you have one lying around, then why not use that.

I've had a dashcam for a few years. Saved me out of both police and insurance cases more than once.
Mine got GPS for speed/location logging, films at 1920x1080 and logs any G-forces.

I use 32gb card, and with that it saves 9 hours at full res (1920x1080).

I hate you.

Just received my g1w dashcam, man this little thing is awesome!

Also bought a 32GB micosd, recording @ 720p30fps lets me get about 9.5 hours before it starts deleting old content. Bought a special rearview mirror clamp and ran the wire behind the upholstery and rubber sides so it's non visible and non obstructive Very Happy

Love this thing already!
