some stuff from FAQ:
Quote:
What is the pace of gameplay?
"Definitely fast-paced. It shares a lot with C&C, but it's new and different too. We think it's a little faster-paced than some of the older stuff, but not so much that it feels like an arcade game. We designed it to be fun from the first second until the last - less "waiting" for things to happen."
How many factions will be in the game?
"We are planning for 6+ factions. Our game design is a mashup of many of the most popular RTS games. The first faction is what we have previewed here, but we have some really fun ideas for the later factions you haven't seen yet. Each faction is planned to come with it's own campaign, and all factions are fully playable against each other."
Will there be air or naval units in the game?
"We have some light air support in the game (like transports), but no naval units yet. We would LOVE to get some of that into a future version and we have some of it already designed."
Who composed the game soundtrack?
"Frank [Klepacki] is back and he really nailed the feel of the game through the new soundtrack. Very retro vibe that really fits the look and style of the gameplay. There's a good mix of music styles. I think I'll see about releasing a track or two in advance of the game launch. The video has an example of one of the tracks, but it doesn't give you a good idea of the variety that Frank created for the game."
Will the game support mods?
"We have plans to release the tools sometime after launch. If the demand is there, we'll definitely provide them. We know how important it is to get players building and sharing content for the game. Right now, our focus is on a great core game first."
Will the game include an observer mode, replay feature, map editor or multiplayer ranking system?
"Replays are great - but we have a relatively small team working on the project and bringing that technology into 8Bit requires more time and people. As with the map editor - if the demand is there we'll get it in! While we have 8-player support in multiplayer we are very focused on our co-op and single-player campaigns for this one. Not enough time (or programmers) to do everything we want all at once. But, that isn't to say that we won't get around to it. Our core GLYPHX engine already has support for leaderboards and quickmatching built-in."
- Very simplistic gameplay.
- Only 10 units.
- Only one faction so far.
- Campaign consists of scenarios without any context to each other.
- Multiplayer-Lobbies: Can't kick others or set a password.
little biased review....
but yeah will wait aswell , but the basis is fun, and they are quite fast to react on the forums and already implemented some fan requested features
... to be it sounds kinda like small personal side-project in-between their bigger ones
to see if this sort of RTS still has a market You can never win in this market, you either get called an inferior StarCraft 2 (like GG did despite beiing completely different) , SupCom, or CnC clone unless you do something drastically different like Wargame.
8-Bit Armies: Guardians is an additional military faction for the original 8-Bit Armies Real-Time Strategy game. Guardians includes new units and some additional structures to play with in both Multiplayer and Skirmish modes with the AI or your online friends. The additional faction is FREE at the moment for all 8-Bit Armies players and is forward and backward compatible with all previously released and future content for the game.

The Guardians Faction includes some common-use structures and units in addition to these new weapons of destruction...
- Grenade Infantry: Throws deadly AOE grenades against ground targets for maximum damage
- Sniper Infantry: Long-range infantry that can stealth while not firing on ground and air units
- Rocket Car: Fast scout vehicle which is also useful against air and ground forces
- APC: Unarmed infantry transport that can hold up to 10 units safely
- Scorch Tank: Fires a deadly cone of fire at a target. When destroyed, causes a huge fireball that damages nearby enemies
- Spectre Tank: Light tank unit with stealth capability. Reveals only when attacking ground-based foes
- Siege Artillery: Longer distance artillery unit with a more focused impact damage radius
- Anti-Air Drone: Autonomously hurls itself against enemy air units in the vicinity, exploding on contact
- Heavy Drone: Heavy-weapons aircraft with both rocket and machine-gun capability which is good in all types of situations
- Satellite Uplink: Controls the Orbital Cannon super-weapon to snipe units and structures from space with multiple rounds
- Cannon Turret: Great defensive structure against enemy vehicles
- Scorch Turret: Very effective defense against infantry units attempting to infiltrate the player's base
Too bad the faction seem to be only for useful for skirmishes and multiplayer. No new campaigns?
I also don't like that the faction are handled as DLCs, instead of an updapte. The wording makes it sound, that the DLCs will cost something in the future.

Are all the maps in "campaign" a mirror-like skirmish maps. I played two missions and couldn't bother to play anymore due to the uninspired design.

as for interoperability

The way it works is that if you own the product, you can play AS the factions. If you don't, you can play AGAINST the factions but you can't pick them. Same with the maps, you can play on maps you don't own, but you can't pick them.

Invaders delayed to December because of the 'Conquer The Multiverse' metagame campaign
Quote:
s you all know, our third game 8-Bit Invaders! is a sci-fi angle on RTS using the same fun blocky art style from the series. Our goal is to continue introducing the real-time strategy genre to a new audience and grow the total number of players online by making all three games compatible while keeping the gameplay accessible and easy to learn. With the third game, we’re also introducing a new campaign mode that allows players to persist their army across multiple worlds and think a little more strategically about what their next move should be.
While development of this new feature is coming along great (it’s already playable) – we also want to make sure we get it right. Since this is something very new and somewhat experimental, we’re spending extra time building a challenging AI to play against and integrating various modifiers like superweapons and territory bonuses at the galactic level. We also want to make sure features like save/load are in and working, since this is a game mode that will likely take longer to play than just one sitting.
As much as we want to get it into your hands soon, we’re going to take a little while longer so we have enough time for tweaking, and any further polish work that needs to happen. Because of this, we will be delaying the launch of Invaders until December. Our hope is to share some screenshots of this new game mode in the next few weeks so you can get a better idea of how it’s going to play. And course, we’ll be looking for some beta testers before launch so that we can make sure everything is balanced as well as it can be. We’ll let you know the exact date of the beta as we get closer to launch.
