hai guys,

we (me and some friends) want to build an Private sharing network, just for max. 10 people..

so, we wanted to use teh p2p (torrent) method. Using an torrent client(modified) inside an VPN tunnel network where we are all in..

so far everything works fine, well lets say the VPN stuff (realized via FreeLAN) works good..

The only thing where we have problems is with the torrent client.

I remember, a few years ago, i shared my modded doom3 files with a steam friend in poland.. We used utorrent 1.8.5.(yeah i know, an old client, BUT, its the safest one..doesnt call home, makes no unessesary connections, etc..)

and this worked back in the days.. without problem, we had fiddle around for 20 min. but in the end it worked. and there was a direct p2p connection between our 2 pc´s, sharing the modded files..

We used the tuts in the net. firmly this one here:

http://bootstrike.com/Articles/CreateTorrent/

i think we had to add the peers manually in the end but it worked..

anyway, our problem is right now, that, even doh, we are using the same tutorial, the built in tracker doesnt work. or it is working and the error is somewhere else..

he cant find teh peers and my torrent stays red..

errors we got, are from, Offline timed out, to http error 300, to connection closed the other pc..

we used these trackers: (as described in the tutorial)

http://IP PC:55555/announce
http://localhost:55555/announce

But still nothing works..

We are both behind a router, but we where also behind a router when i did this transfer with my poland friend..

im at a loss here right now.

in the end, we want to have an p2p network thats inside and virtual network, encrypted and decentralized..(one of the features of FreeLAN).

anybody has some experience with this and give me a helping hand Smile
