|
 |
It seems Marvel decided they are no longer interested in exploring The Inhumans on film, as they previously removed the film from their schedule and now they announced they will be making an 8-episode series based around the Black Bolt and the royal family. Though it is noted the series is not a reworking of the film, it is designed from the beginning as its own thing.
The first 2 episodes will be filmed entirely with IMAX cameras and will also be shown in IMAX theaters in September 2017 in the form of a movie, although it is noted that the TV versions of those will have "additional exclusive content" (more scenes?).
No other details are available at the time, such as writers, directors, returning cast members from other series (or movies), etc.

What does this mean for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Well, I'd say it's likely this will attempt to replace AoS as it's current season has a viewership that is lower than that of the cancelled Agent Carter!

I mean it says right there in the OP, it's not based on the movie they were planning (although based on the same source material, sure).
And yeah I don't expect anything like film-quality production values (with the possible exception of the first 2 episodes, maybe), but let's hope for Netflix-like ones.

Quote: | According to THR, Iwan Rheon will play the lead role of Maximus in Marvel and ABC's The Inhumans. It was generally assumed that Black Bolt would be the main character of the show, but if this report is accurate, it's actually going to be his unhinged brother, the aptly named Maximus The Mad.
Showrunner Scott Buck suggests that the typically antagonistic Inhuman won't be portrayed as an outright villain, however. "Maximus is a complex character. Likeable, charming, tragic and villainous all in the same moment, and I’m very excited to have someone of Iwan’s considerable talent." Marvel's Jeph Loeb adds: "Iwan's ability to be charming, roguish and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board."
The announcement was also accompanied by our first official logline for the show:
Inhumans will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family. In the eight-episode straight-to-series drama, Maximus is a clever and charming Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King — though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.
The first 2 episodes of The Inhumans will screen in IMAX theaters on September 1, with the show set to continue on ABC on September 26. |

Quote: | Fans of AMC’s late underrated western “Hell on Wheels” will be stoked over the news that the show’s leading man Anson Mount has found a new gig – as the lead role of Black Bolt in Marvel and ABC’s “Inhumans” series.
The story will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of the royal family including Black Bolt, an enigmatic and commanding King of the Inhumans – a being with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city.
Like the character in the comics who does not speak, the TV character will also be silent. Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb says: “Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently. His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”
Mount joins “Game of Thrones” actor Iwan Rheon who will play his younger brother Maximus the Mad, charming on the outside but he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.
Roel Reine will direct the first two episodes which will debut in IMAX theaters this September prior to the TV premiere in fall. The full first season will run for eight episodes. |

They should have chosen leads who were close in age to each other. Btw, Anson should just be cast as Geralt. They'll save a lot of money on make up
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Medusa's hair needs work.
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

Those "action" scenes and the stock punching sound

Iwan Rheon is the only good thing in this.
