Damian Shannon, the writing duo behind the upcoming Baywatch movie, to pen the script for a new theatrical feature film that would relaunch a potential franchise.

Neal H. Moritz, the producer behind the Fast & Furious franchise, is producing with Toby Jaffe, with whom he worked on the studio's remake of another 1990s sci-fi pic, Total Recall.

-

The studio is not remaking the film but is said to be going back to the original Heinlein novel for an all-new take. No personnel from the 1997 film are involved.

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

There we go, Hollywood scraping the bottom of the barrel with yet another completely unnecessary reboo.

theres room enough, kids, for a reboot thats more faithful to the book.

its not a rehash of verhoevens fun film, its a completely different film, different TONE, based on the SOURCE MATERIAL that verhoeven kinda used himself.

the troopers cgi series was really good (90s cgi notwithstanding), so theres clearly room for another tale with rico and his squad in a move faithful story.

i say bring it on.. the book was different enough to make for a completely new experience that im interested to see.

We still haven't seen the remake. We saw a movie the studio butchered. We saw glimpses of what the movie could have been... Sad

Starship Troopers (1) was great (not in an oscar way, but entertaining!), the rest was a layer cake of absolute horse shit. Like 50 bucks budgets and a bad disposition.

Sad sci-fi classic, watched it 20 times.

Starship.Troopers.1997.720p.BluRay.x264-hV ftw still on my hard drive.

One movie that doesn't deserve a reboot, effects are still great looking, movie is 10/10 all round.

It's not a remake of the first movie, it's an entirely separate thing based on their own interpretation of the book. The book and original movie had some major differences, for instance in the movie Mobile Infantry = hordes of regular soldiers, while in the book they used power armor, jetpacks and much more powerful weaponry
